Gianluigi Buffon Wiki/Bio

Gianluigi Gigi Buffon is an Italian professional soccer player presently serving as the Juventus F.C goalkeeper. Today, experts acknowledge Gianluigi Buffon as the world’s finest goaltender, but Bufton’s skills are becoming even better as he continues to progress in age. Buffon has proved to be a man who is definitely the final defense line in his squad, despite being old compared to other goalkeepers.

In a career lasting two decades, the Italian man has seen a lot of action and brings to the field the experience he has gained in this period. His abundant knowledge and excellent talents in the area make him, without a doubt, a widely regarded person.

On 28 January 1978, Gianluigi Gigi Buffon was born into a sport lovers’ family. His dad, Adriano Buffon, was a weight lifter, while his mother, Maria Stella Buffon, was a disco thrower. In 2011, after 6 years together, Buffon married Alena Šeredová. In 2014, he was divorced by his wife. Louis Thomas and David Lee have two children together.

In 2017, after his son Mattia was born in 2016, he joined Ilaria D’Amico. In the early days of his career in Juventus Buffon has admitted that he experienced depression. After falsifying a high school degree to study law at the University of Parma, Buffon into hot water in 2002. His crime, which he regards as the greatest regret of his life, penalized him. Buffon is now the Ambassador of Goodwill to World Food Program of the United Nations.

Career

In 1991, at the age of 13, Buffon began his career as a young Parma student. He first played in a number of out-field positions, especially as a midfielder, while at the youth program before moving on to his present role as a goalie. His idolized Thomas N’Kono inspired this change of position as a result of his outstanding achievements for Cameroon during the 1990 World Cup in Italy, and therefore Buffon suffered sudden injuries due to his interest, height, or physical characteristics when both of the youth teams from Parma suffered injuries. He adapted rapidly to this job and was promoted to the first guard of the Parma young squad after two weeks. Ermes Fulgoni, the goalkeeping coach of the academy, would soon become the young goalkeeper’s mentor.

Buffon was promoted to the senior squad in 1995 after initial training with the first team during the summer of 1994, and at the age of 17, he made a debut Serie A for Parma under Nevio Scala and maintained a clean sheet in a 0–0 home draw with eventual Serie A Champions Milan on 19 November 1995. Throughout the game, Roberto Baggio & George Weah, and Marco Simone produced remarkable savings from Ballon d’Or. Buffon made his debut in the competition when Parma was ousted in the second round, with seven further team performances in that season and another one in the Coppa Italia. In the same season, Parma finished sixth in series A and qualified for the UEFA Cup. He trained under goalkeeping coach Villiam Vecchi throughout his time at Parma, a guy whom Buffon gives a high level of trust, growth, and success.

In the 1997-1998 season, Parma finished fifth in Series A, and finished second in their group against the reigning champions Borussia Dortmund while reaching the semi-finals of Coppa Italia throughout the group of the Champions League. During the season, when Buffon stopped the penalty from Inter Striker and Ballon d’Or holder Ronaldo, he got his nickname “Superman.” Buffon celebrated the save with a Superman T-Shirt displaying the supporters of Parma that he was wearing beneath his jersey; the moniker referred to the athleticism of Buffon, its agility, and its aerial abilities.

Buffon earned his first European title in his fourth season at the club, the UEFA Cup, keeping the final slice clean against Marseille that finished 3-0 for Parma, and won the club Coppa Italia the same season as Parma overcame Fiorentina on distance. Parma finished fourth in series A, enabling them, after losing to Rangers, to enter a playoff run in the UEFA Champions League. Buffon received his first Series A Goalkeeper of the Year Award for that season, together with the Bravo Award, which gave the award to the greatest player in Europe under 23 years of age. He was also sixth among the best IFFHS World Goalkeepers and won his first-ever nomination for Ballon d’Or.

In their first European Championship qualification match against Norway, Buffon made his first appearance for Italy under new manager Antonio Conte in September 1994. He kept his sheet clean while Italy won the game 2–0. On 12 June 2015, Buffon was the first international player to compete in 50 UEFA matches against Croatia in Italy’s one-on-one event in Europe. Instead, it was removed at halftime to replace Salvatore Sirigue due to injuries. Buffon had saved an early punishment for Mario Mandžukić. On 6 September 2015, it made its 150th appearance in Italy, with its 62nd clean sheet internationally in a home-grown 1–0 triumph over Bulgaria. On 10 October 2016, Italy qualified in the win against Azerbaijan in a 3-1 victory.

After the Euro qualifying, Buffon claimed that Euro 2016 was the final European Championship of his career, but only after the 2018 World Cup, which would have him play until he was 40 years old, declared his decision to retire. Buffon was appointed Captain of the 23-man Italian team under Conte on 31 May 2016 for the Euro 2016 competition. In the opening match in Italy, Buffon kept a clean page in a 2-0 win against Belgium in the tournament on June 13. Buffon was 14th in the tournament and, after overplaying Maldini Del Piero and Cassano, he was Italy’s most capped player in the tower, and also Del Piero with the fourth round of the competition was one of the most UEFA European championships to play in Italy.

In Italy’s second group on 17 June, he maintained another clean sheet in a 1-0 victory against Sweden, enabling his team to lead the group and move to the second round but was subsequently booked on time for time-consuming injuries. Because of a bout of illness, Buffon was substituted by deputy Sirigu in a 1–0 defeat on 22 June in the Italian final group encounter. On 27 June, he returned to the starting line-up for his country’s race against Spain in 16, saving Gerard Pique a critical injury to his third straight clean score, as Italy avenged its final defeat in 2012 with a 2-0 win over the reigning champions. Buffon saves a penalty in the subsequent shoot-out after an additional 1:1 tie after an extra time in Italia’s quarter-final setup against Germany on 2 July, however, the defending world cup winners would eventually be victors with a shoot-out loss of 6–5. He was later nominated for the UEFA Save of the Season Award, with the exception of denying Mario Gómez within regulatory time. His nominated save for Gómez came to the third with 14 percent of the votes at the conclusion of the next month.

On 6 October 2016, Buffon erred that, when he mistimed his challenge and allowed Vitolo to go around and slide the ball into an empty net at Turin in a 2018 World Cup qualifying match, Spain took 1:0 lead in 55. During the second game he appeared 164th in Italy to become the 8th most captured international actor ever with Cobi Jones and, behind just Iker Casillas, the second most captured active international player. Buffon got his 167th Cap in Italy on 15 November 2016 in their friendly draw of zero to zero against Germany in Milan, becoming him the world’s most accomplished international player, together with Casillas, with Iker Casillas and Vitālijs Astafjevs, the European international appearance record.

As the greatest international player of Italy throughout the calendar year, Buffon won the Pallone Azzurro Award 2016 as the only player ever to have won the prize more than once. During the Parma season, the decision of Buffon to wear the 88 shirts was controversial in Italy rather than his prior 1 shirt. Buffon stated though that he was not aware of the neo-Nazi overtones of the number, claiming that 88 symbolized “four balls” which are a person’s character and characteristic characteristics. He declared that following his injury before Euro 2000 they were intended to show his need for such characteristics and also symbolize his “rebirth.” He then proposed to modify the number, after thoroughly investigating its meaning, picking the 77th group.

His fascist motto, “Boia chi molla” (“who gives up is a scam”), hand-written on a T-shirt under his goalkeeper jersey, was brought to his attention in September 1999. In the aftermath, he wore and displayed the phrase in media appearances. Buffon publicly apologized, claimed that the slogan had first appeared on a school desk and had not known his far-right association and particularly, his use with the neo-fascists in Reggio Calabria during the Reggio revolt of the early 1970s. Buffon was a fool, a naïve gesture because he was completely ignorant of the neo-fascist connotations. He said that he wanted to use the motto only to inspire his players and the supporters because Parma had seen some deceitful outcomes before.

Buffon was indicted for playing Series A games illegally on 12 May 2006 at the heights of the Calciopoli scandal, which originally placed his seat at danger in the 2006 Italian World Cup squad. Buffon was officially questioned and accepted the putting of sports games bets until players in October 2005 were prohibited, although he never refused to place bets on Italian soccer games. In December 2006, he was exonerated of all accusations.

Following the victory of Junior B in the 2006–07 season, Buffon has signed a contract extension with Juventus until 2012 to promote them back in Series A. For the second straight year of 2007, Buffon was voted as the FIFPro XI target holder, and for a record-breaking fourth time the IFFHS World’s Best Goalkeeper. Buffon earned his first red card in the series B season on 18 November 2006 in a match against Albino-Leffe. Buffon renewed its contract with Juventus through to 2012 prior to the start of the 2007–08 Series A season.

In the summers of 2014, Manager Antonio Conte departed Juventus in order to take over the Italian side and Massimiliano Allegri, the former manager of Milan, was appointed as an alternative. Juve started a season for 2014-2015 with a 1-0 win against Chievo and in the second half Buffon kept the sheet clean with saves on Maxi López. On September 27, in a 3-0 win over Atalanta, Buffon stopped a German Denis penalty that helped Juventus maintain its sixth consecutive clean score in the A-series.

After 616 minutes in the season, he ended up beating himself with a Francesco Totti finale in his 3–2 home victory against Roma on 5 October. Buffon was able to continue for a total of 801 minutes, without including the previous season; Dino Zoff and Sebastiano Rossi had only improved the record at that time. Buffon said that he will withdraw when Italy did qualify for the 2018 World Cup. He ultimately retired in May 2018 after playing with a few foreign friends.
