Alex Ferguson Wiki/Bio
Alex Ferguson, Sir Alexander Chapman Ferguson, Fergie (born on 31 December 1941, Glasgow, Scotland), Scottish football player and manager, Manchester United’s (1986–2013) manager. He led the club to over 30 national and international titles including 13 Premier League championships, five Football Association (FA) Cup victories (1990, 1994, 1996, 1999 and 2004) and two Champion League titles. Ferguson was one of its longest-serving managers in the history of “Man U.” (1999 and 2008).
In the 1965–66 Scottish League season Ferguson tied up for lead in scoring, and was transferred in 1967 to his hometown Rangers for a then-recorded £65,000 fee. He was an unbelievable player with the Rangers in two seasons and played for two other clubs prior to his retirement in 1974.
Only months later he moved to St. Mirren, which led to a 1976–77 league championship. He was appointed Manager of Aberdeen FC in 1978. Under the leadership of Ferguson, Aberdeen was successful in the history of the club, winning three Scottish premiere divisions (1979-80, 1983–84 and 1984–85), four Scottish cups (1982, 1983, 1984 and 1986) and a Cup of European Cup Winners (1983). Ferguson’s unprecedented achievement at Aberdeen has led over the years to managerial proposals from some of Europe’s leading clubs and he signed in November 1986 with Manchester.
Man U was initially inconsistent under Ferguson’s guidance. During his first four seasons with the club, he finished 11th, 2nd, 11th and 13th in the first division of the Football League. It was widely known that he was at risk of losing his job before Manchester won the FA Cup in the 1989–90 season. The victory marked the beginning of English football history’s most successful executive race, with Man U winning eight Premier League championships from 92–93 to 2002–03 and three FA Cup titles in the 11 seasons.
This period was highlighted during the 1998–99 season when Manchester won the title of Champions League to earn the first “tribles” (Victories in the Domestic Top-Division, a Domestic Cup, and a Continental Championship) in the English soccer history in addition to taking the Champions League and FA Cup. After three years without a League Championship, United won five Premier League titles from 2006-07 to 2012-2013 during a span of seven seasons, with a second Champions League win in 2008. At the end of the 2012–13 Premier League season, Ferguson retired but remained with Man U in the front office and club ambassador.
On 11 occasions, Ferguson was named Premier League Manager of the Year. He published autobiography volumes in 1999 and 2013. In 1995, he was appointed Commander of the United Kingdom (CBE) and knighted in 1999.
Football, a number of related games, all characterized by two people or groups trying to kick, take, throw or propel a ball to the opposing goal. Kicking is only allowed in some of the games; in others kicking is less important than other propulsion methods.
See football, football, gridiron, rugby, Australian rules of football, and Gaelic football for an explanation of contemporary football.
There was an impulse to kick a round object as long as people are human. Football played the first game when two or more people, acting on the pulse, tried to kick a round object in one direction instead of in another. Evidence of organized football matches in Greece and China has been around for over 2,000 years, but historians have no idea how these matches have been played.
It’s plausible to claim that football of some kind was played across the Roman Empire, but harpastum, often cited in support of these claims, seemed to involve throwing a ball instead of kicking. Although kicking games were played by the North American indigenous, they were much less popular than the stickball games which formed the origin of modern lacrosse games.
