Agnes Carlsson was born on March 6, 1988, in the Swedish city of Vänersborg, as the youngest of four siblings. Her father worked as an environmental engineer, and her mother worked as a nurse and social worker in the same organization. Agnes began taking violin lessons and singing in a choir when she was a young child. While still in school, she performed for the first time in front of a live audience as a soloist.
