This was the first single off his new album Never Been Better, which debuted at number one on September 24, 2014, and was followed by a second single, “Up,” which featured American singer Demi Lovato.

In the spring of 2015, he plans to tour the United Kingdom. Murs released his fourth single, “Beautiful to Me,” on June 15th, with Game of Thrones actress Charlotte Hope starring in the music video.

Career

Murs and Caroline Flack will replace Dermot O’Leary as co-hosts of The X Factor from Series 12 onwards, it was announced on April 16, 2015. Murs later released 24 Hrs, his fifth studio album, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Murs is the son of Vicky-Lynn and Pete Murs, and was born in Witham, Essex. He has a sister, Fay Murs, and a twin brother, Ben Murs.

He went to Howbridge Junior School in Witham and Notley High School in Braintree, Essex, where he played striker for the football team. In the semi-final, he sang “Can You Feel It” and “We Can Work It Out,” and he was one of the three finalists, breaking down when he heard the news.

On the 12th of December, he performed “Superstition,” his audition song, and Cowell commented that putting him in the final 12 was “the best gamble I have ever taken in my life.” Murs then performed a duet of “Angels” with British artist Robbie Williams, in which Williams fluffed his lines when he stepped on stage to join Murs and entered at the wrong time, singing the song’s second line.

In the next season, he made three first-team appearances and scored one, but an injury caused him to retire from sport. Prior to appearing on The X Factor, Murs worked as a recruitment consultant at Prime Appointments in Witham and performed with a buddy, Jon Goodey, in a covers band called the Small Town Blaggers.

In 2007, he also featured on the game programme Deal or No Deal, when he earned a meagre £10 prize. In 2012, Murs returned for a celebrity version of the show, making him the only person to appear on both seasons. Murs was sent to the quarter-finals by Cowell, Cheryl Cole, and Dannii Minogue, while John & Edward were sent to the quarter-finals by Louis Walsh. However, voting figures revealed that John and Edward garnered more votes than Murs, implying that if Minogue forced a tie, John and Edward would win. Murs had to leave his brother’s wedding in order to compete in the semi-finals. Although the ceremony occurred only 16 miles (26 kilometres) from the show’s studio, Cowell was adamant about not letting him leave for a few hours on the day of the semi-final.

After trying out unsuccessfully twice before, he chose to re-audition for The X Factor after his return. Murs auditioned for the sixth season of The X Factor in 2009, performing “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder. “The simplest yes I’ve ever given,” claimed judge Simon Cowell. Walsh called him the competition’s “dark horse,” and Cowell said he was “coming into his own each week.” In his performance, he used a lot of dancing techniques, including his signature “Olly wiggle. In week 4, he performed “Come Together,” to which Walsh predicted, “I think you’re in the last three,” while Cowell said he was “progressing .
