A solo cd named My Favorite Things, a collection of largely musical theatre tunes, Bryant published in 2008.

In the “Phantom of Opera” of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Kimilee Bryant of Greenville, a native of Opera City, was transported back to the city. Only a few weeks later, Bryant did really start rehearsals for “Peter Pan” produced in Anderson at the Alverson Center Theatre. The exhibition opens for six concerts until June 28, Friday 19 June. She plays Mrs. Darling in the show, was formerly Miss South Carolina. The boy, who refuses to grow up, has the title role of its sister, Candice.

Bryant started teaching in the Upstate in addition to her internship duties. This summer in Anderson and Greenville she launched a private vocal studio and planned Musical Theater camps. After 25 years in New York City, what drove the move home? Her son, Aidan, was born last year. Bryant stated, speaking by phone before a recent rehesal in Anderson, “I have a family here and I would like my son to be among my family. “He’s her grandchild for the first time.” For 10 years Bryant had been affiliated with “Opera’s Phantom,” starting on Broadway in 1994.

In Switzerland, Toronto and on tour in North America, she also played with “Phantom.” She is the only actor to have ever performed all three major female parts in Broadway music. Bryant told me that she was at home in Greenville after three months, though she was occasionally tugged into her “other home,” Broadway. On the day that she met movers at her apartment in New York, Bryant was summoned for the “Sound of Music” national tournament which, by the way, will arrive to Greenville in April 2016. ‘But I’m not sure how the 14-month-old child will work,’ she remarked.

She is confined to relatively short commitments. Bryant owns Rubylee Production, her own company, named for her grandmother. She arranged many weekend concerts in different venues around the country over the next couple of months. However, it can take three weeks to conduct a longer Broadway review trip in China. Two other Broadway actors and a full orchestra will participate in this tour. “In China, of course, everyone wants to hear ‘Phantom’ songs, so we do a number of them.” She also sees potential opportunities for performance in Greenville’s theatres. He was appointed Miss South Carolina in 1989 by Bryant, who graduated from the S.C. School of the Arts and Humanities and attended Converse College.

She participated in the Miss America pageant where she received two talent bursaries to help her with a degree from the School of Music in Manhattan. She graduated from the school with her Masters of Music. However, Bryant was bittersweet back to Greenville in March. A few days prior to her arrival, her father passed away. “His seventy-year birthday was four days shy,” remarked Bryant. Bryant has performed throughout the Upstate for several years. In 2000, she performed at the Warehouse Theater in “Master Class.”

Then she went to the same theatre to bring her one-wife show, “Classical Cabaret: My Life’s Journey.” Right now she concentrates on Peter Pan and takes advantage of the opportunity to perform in the CBS TV series “Unforgettable” with her sister, Candice. Kimilee Bryant stated, “A few of days ago I watched her (Candices) in rehearsals, thinking, ‘This is its role.’ “It’s the dream role of her.” Bryant’s Mrs. Darling has only two show scenes, however Robb Alverson has extended her music slightly.

In a couple of days “Peter Pan” is flying — literally. Flying Effects ZFX, which assisted Broadway rise in the handling of flying equipment for the production of Alverson in Anderson, is the Cathy Rigby’s Peter Pan. “The theatre of the community has been raised to the next level,” stated Alverson. “We have an enormous cast which only Kimilee and Candice supplement, with special effects. Such talent inspires community performers to lift their own performance.” “Peter Pan” has a 47-person and a crew of over 25 all-volunteer.
