The Kid LAROI Wiki/Bio
His mother is an aboriginal Australian, and his father is French. Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard was born on August 17, 2003, in Waterloo, Sydney, Australia. LAROI grew up with his mother and uncle. His mother would play Hip-Hop and R&B songs by artists such as Fugees, Erykah Badu, and Tupac, so he was always surrounded by music.
He lived in the outback for a while in a town called Broken Hill before returning to Waterloo. When his uncle was murdered in 2015, the family faced difficult times, and his mother struggled to provide for the children.
Things began to change after he won a competition. LAROI gets his stage name from his mother’s aboriginal community, the Kamilaroi.He now resides in Los Angeles, California, with his mother and brother.
By the age of 11, The Kid Laroi was prolifically writing rap lyrics and filling notebooks. Things started to fall into place when a Facebook friend agreed to let him use his studio to record his songs. His freestyle videos gradually grew in popularity. In 2018, he drew attention when he was named a finalist in Triple J Unearthed.
Career
When rapper Juice Wrld toured Australia in 2018, he got a big break. Laroi opened for him and performed with him on his tour. Juice Wrld took him under his wing, mentored him, and officially introduced Laroi to the world of professional Rap music.
Laroi signed a deal with Columbia Records and Grade A Productions in 2019, which helped popularise his single Let Her Go.
Laroi collaborated with Lil Tecca on the single Diva in 2020, and then with his mentor Juice Wrld on Go, which became his breakout single.
Laroi’s songs frequently emerge from his real-life experiences and feelings; for example, after Juice Wrld died, he wrote “Tell Me Why.” After being hurt by a romantic experience, he created the mixtape F*ck Love. His writing exudes the raw passion of a teen. They gain instant popularity thanks to their fast-paced, bold music and catchy hooks. F*ck Love has been nominated for two Grammy Awards: Best Male Artist and Breakthrough Artist.
