Born in the United States on December 17, 1979, Milton “Lil Rel” Howery Jr. works as an actor and comedian. Howery is most known for his roles as TSA agent Rod Williams in Get Out (2017) and Robert Carmichael on NBC’s comedic sitcom The Carmichael Show (2015-2017). He co-created and co-starred in the short-lived TV show Rel (2018-2019).

Young Milton Howery, son of Nancy and Milton, spent his formative years on Chicago’s West Side. From fifth through ninth grade, he studied at Providence St. Mel School. He eventually enrolled at Crane High School. After participating in the senior talent competition at Crane and receiving positive feedback on his jokes and screenplay, Howery decided to make comedy his career. People at his high school basketball games kept calling him “Lil Rel” because he looked much like his elder cousin Darrel.

Howery first performed a stand-up comedy in the Windy City. In January 2007, he made his network debut on Last Comic Standing. Earlier the same year, he appeared on HBO’s P. Diddy Presents The Bad Boys of Comedy. While in Chicago in 2009, he participated in America’s National Night Out Against Crime. Howery and five other comedians featured in a 2012 Fox reboot of the 1990s show In Living Color.

Sadly, the series ended its run in 2013. Howery then became one of the regular cast members of the truTV sketch comedy show Friends of the People, as well as a writer and producer for the show. In 2015, he joined his brother, the show’s creator, Jerrod Carmichael, on the NBC comedy The Carmichael Show as a co-star playing the role of Bobby Carmichael.

Howery’s first stand-up special, Kevin Hart Presents: Lil Rel: RELevent, became available on Netflix in the United States in early 2016.
Howery’s turn in Jordan Peele’s satirical horror thriller Get Out earned him the “Best Comedic Performance” MTV Movie & TV Award in 2017. Rel, a comedy starring Howery and created by Jerrod Carmichael and Mike Scully, was picked up by Fox on May 10, 2018.

Howery has indicated that the play is based on his life and experiences, including his divorce and becoming a parent again. On September 9, 2018, the series debuted. In the comedic picture Free Guy, Howery co-starred with Ryan Reynolds. Buddy, a security guard, was his character. Howery has portrayed Bishop in the HBO Max comedy series South Side since 2019.

Lil Rel Howery: Live in Crenshaw, Howery’s second stand-up special, premiered on HBO in 2019. Yes, I just claimed that it’s his third stand-alone. Chicago served as the setting for the 2022 filming and release of Y’all thinking it. Howery was a passenger in a car that collided with another in Chicago’s University Village neighborhood in June of 2016.[24] After arguing with Howery, the other vehicle’s driver contacted 9-1-1, stating he had been hit in the face.

Howery was a passenger in a vehicle, but the driver left without him. Howery was charged with a minor battery offense and was found not guilty. The driver filed a lawsuit against Howery for damages after the altercation. Jillian Bell (The Master, 22 Jump Street) and Lil Rel Howery (Get Out, Free Guy) have both been cast in this film. Bell will portray MegaCorp CEO Katt Boswell, while Liam Howery will play MegaCorp attorney Cecil McNevin.

Ed’s twin son, Ed2, will be played by Alex R. Hibbert. Twins Elizabeth and Emily Hinkler, Kamaia Fairburn, Fabrizio Guido, Anabel Graetz, and Anabel Graetz round out the cast. In addition to his established career as a stand-up comedian, Howery has lately found success in the acting world. For his performance as TSA agent Rod Williams in Jordan Peele’s Oscar-winning film “Get Out,” for which he won an acting Oscar, he has become well recognized.

Since then, he has been in films including “Free Guy,” with Ryan Reynolds, “Fatherhood,” alongside Kevin Hart, “Bird Box,” alongside Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes, LaKeith Stanfield, and his “Get Out” co-stars, and “Judas and the Black Messiah,” again Daniel Kaluuya and Stanfield. Howery’s first HBO special was directed by his co-star and “The Carmichael Show” co-star Jerrod Carmichael. Before this, he had been a guest host on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (also on ABC), as reported by Variety.

One example is the controversy surrounding Andrea Riseborough’s unexpected nomination for To Leslie in this year’s Best Actress category. Riseborough’s campaign strategy, which featured a surge of celebrity endorsements in the last few days, including from Gwyneth Paltrow and Edward Norton, was criticized by several observers. The Academy decided to keep her candidacy after reviewing the campaign.

The film I Love My Dad shows how some parents may take extraordinary measures to maintain contact with their children. The film’s plot revolves around a controlling father who resorts to catfishing his estranged son online. The first sign that his strategy is failing comes when his son suggests taking a road trip to be with the lady he has fallen for. I Love My Dad has an ensemble cast that includes Patton Oswalt, Rachel Dratch, Claudia Sulewski, Lil Rel Howery, Amy Landecker, and the film’s writer/director James Morosini.

The film is humorous and cringe-worthy in its look at the perils of unconditional love, and it is based mainly on Morosini’s relationship with his father. Screen Rant has an exclusive interview with Lil Rel Howery to celebrate the home media release of I Love My Dad. In it, Howery talks about his love with the cringe-worthy narrative, what he learned from working with Patton Oswalt, the possibility of a Get Out reunion with Jordan Peele, and more. After being introduced in the pilot as a casino waitress who got her job by beating the house at its own game—identifying lies—Charlie Cale spent the rest of the episode on the run from Sin City.

Because of her talent as a human lie detector, the casino owner (Adrien Brody) and his henchman (Benjamin Bratt) are exposed as Dascha Polanco’s murderers. She decides to hit the road. The murder mystery premise of the program was introduced in the second episode, “The Night Shift,” when she discovers and solves a double murder.

The first four episodes of Rian Johnson’s latest murder mystery, Poker Face, are now available online at Peacock. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which Johnson also directed, was just nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Natasha Lyonne plays Charlie Cale in the film Poker Face, and she can detect lies. Like Columbo, Charlie investigates a murder seen at the beginning of each episode, and each episode includes a different guest star.

Lil Rel Howery, who stars in the Netflix series Get Out, recently talked with The Hollywood Reporter about his role as a villain in the third episode, “The Stall,” and his encounter with Johnson. The Mill, a sci-fi thriller from 20th Digital Studio, Hulu Originals, and Altar Rock Pictures starring and produced by Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), will premiere exclusively on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in other countries later this year.

After starring in the hit comedy Vacation Friends alongside John Cena, Yvonne Orji, and Meredith Hagner for Hulu’s Originals division and 20th Century Studios, the actor is returning for the sequel, Honeymoon Friends, which recently wrapped production in New Jersey. Since the release of Jordan Peele’s horror film Get Out, in which Howery co-starred alongside Daniel Kaluuya, the actor and comedian has been riding high.

Code 3, a buddy action comedy about the world of paramedics, stars him, Rainn Wilson, and Aimee Carrero and is now under production. His current projects include Rian Johnson’s critically acclaimed case-of-the-week mystery series Poker Face for Peacock, and upcoming projects include the Tony Goldwyn–directed comedy Inappropriate Behavior, the romantic comedy Honeymoon Friends, and many more. Code 3, a buddy action comedy from Wayfarer Studios and Circle of Confusion, will begin filming in Los Angeles next month, with Rainn Wilson (Weird: The Al Yankovic Story) and Lil Rel Howery (Get Out) attached to executive produce and star, respectively.

Director Christopher Leone (Parallels) presents a day in the lives of two exhausted, underpaid, and overworked emergency medical technicians. One EMT is so overworked that he is quitting, but only after doing a last 24-hour shift to teach his successor. On this previous thrilling day, everything that might occur on the job does. Howery is an actor and comedian, and his supporting part in Jordan Peele’s Oscar-winning cultural phenomenon catapulted him to worldwide fame.
