Larry Page Google Wiki/Bio
Larry Page was born in Lansing, Michigan, on March 26, 1973. His mother is a devout adherent of the Jewish faith, and his maternal grandparents later immigrated to Israel. Page, on the other hand, was raised without any religious ritual or influence, and he has proclaimed himself to be agnostic. Carl Victor Page Sr. graduated from the University of Michigan with a Ph.D. in computer science. Will Smale, a BBC columnist, called him a “pioneer in computer science and artificial intelligence.” Page’s father was a computer science professor at Michigan State University, and his mother Gloria was a computer programming teacher at the university’s Lyman Briggs College.
Page remembered his childhood home as “always a mess, with computers, science, and technology magazines, and Popular Science magazines all over the room,” an atmosphere in which he absorbed himself during an interview.
When Page was six years old, he was drawn to machines so he could “play with the things lying around”—first-generation personal computers—that his mother and father had left behind. Page was a member of the 1993 “Maize & Blue” University of Michigan Solar Car squad and served as president of the Beta Epsilon chapter of the Eta Kappa Nu fraternity. He recommended that the University of Michigan replace the bus infrastructure with a personal rapid transit system, which is basically a driverless monorail with different cars for each passenger, though still an undergraduate. During this time, he also created a business strategy for a corporation that would use software to create a music synthesizer.
Page was looking for a dissertation topic after enrolling in a computer science Ph.D. program at Stanford University, and he thought of looking into the mathematical properties of the World Wide Web and recognizing its relation structure as a massive graph. Terry Winograd, Page’s boss, urged him to try the project, and Page said in 2008 that it was the best advice he’d ever had. Career
In 1998, Brin and Page founded Google, Inc. with the domain name “Googol,” which is derived from the number one followed by one hundred zeros, which represents the enormous amount of data that the search engine was designed to discover.
