Jin Wiki/Bio
Jin was born in Gwacheon-si, South Korea, on December 4, 1992. His mother, dad, and older brother make up his family. He was approached by SM Entertainment on the street when he was in junior high school, but he turned down the deal because he thought it was a ruse.
He studied art and acting at Konkuk University and graduated on February 22, 2017, with a degree in art and acting. He is currently a graduate student at Hanyang Cyber University, where he is studying subjects other than music.
Big Hit Entertainment saw Jin walking down the street and scouted him. Jin was studying acting at the time and had no musical experience. Jin debuted as one of BTS’ four vocalists on June 13, 2013, with the release of their debut single album 2 Cool 4 Skool. In 2016, Jin released his first co-produced hit, “Awake,” a solo single from the album Wings.
On the Gaon Music Chart, the song reached number 31 and number six on the Billboard World Digital Singles Chart. He posted a Christmas version of “Awake” on SoundCloud in December 2016.
Career
Jin’s second solo, “Epiphany,” was released as a teaser for BTS’ then-upcoming compilation album Love Yourself: Response on August 9, 2018. Billboard describes the album as having a “building pop-rock melody” with lyrics of self-acceptance and self-love.
The song was finally released as a single on Response, reaching number 30 on the Gaon Music Chart and number four on the Billboard World Digital Singles Chart. Along with other members of the party, he was awarded the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by South Korean President Moon Jae-in in October.
On the 2020 studio album Map of the Soul: 7, he released his third solo single with BTS, “Moon.” “Moon” is a power pop song aimed at BTS lovers, according to Variety writer Jae-Ha Kim. “Moon” reached the top of the Gaon Digital Chart and the second spot on Billboard’s US World Digital Singles chart.
Jin collaborated on the song “It’s Definitely You” with fellow BTS member V, which was released as part of the Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth original soundtrack. He also sang and released an alternative version of “So Far Away,” a song from BTS member Suga’s self-titled mixtape Agust D.’s, with BTS member Jungkook.
“Mother” by Ra.D, “I Love You” by Mate, and “In Front of the Post Office in Autumn,” written by Yoon Do-Hyun in 1994, are among Jin’s solo covers. On May 7, 2015, December 3, 2015, and June 7, 2018, they were all posted on SoundCloud. He’s also appeared as a co-host on Korean music award shows like Music Bank and Inkigayo on many occasions.
Jin debuted his first independent album, “Tonight,” on June 4, 2019, as part of the 2019 BTS Festa, a yearly celebration commemorating the band’s debut. Jin collaborated on the acoustic ballad with Big Hit Entertainment record producers Slow Rabbit and Hiss Noise. Jin and BTS chief RM wrote the lyrics, which were influenced by Jin’s friendship with his dogs. The song received a mostly favourable response, with compliments on Jin’s vocals and the song’s relaxing atmosphere.
