Trolls come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some people like bullying strangers in order to make themselves feel better. Others get entangled in the mob mentality, endlessly pursuing someone who doesn’t fit in with the rest of the digital pack.

However, for the more intelligent individuals such as Zack, it is a combination of athletics, philosophy, and – admittedly bizarre – political activity. Zack, you see, believes that individuals must be strong and self-sufficient in order to accept responsibility for their acts.

He is concerned about a culture that is quiet and submissive, in which everyone takes oneself too seriously and is too easily offended. This results in self-censorship and the extinction of freedom of speech. Trolls like as Zack believe it is their responsibility to push and investigate the borders of offensiveness in order to keep society on its toes.
