Chicago Bears Phone number

A professional gridiron football club headquartered in Chicago, the Chicago Bears compete in the National Football Conference (NFC) of the National Football League (NFL) (NFL). There are eight NFL championships and one Super Bowl in the history of the Chicago Bears.

First known as the Decatur (Illinois) Staleys, the Bears franchise was created by industrialist A.E. Staley in 1920. George Halas became the team’s player-coach in 1921 after Staley gave the squad to him as a new franchise. (Halas, lovingly referred to as “Papa Bear,” served as head coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1946 to 1968.)

The Bears were renamed in 1922, the year the American Professional Football Association (APFA) became the National Football League (NFL) after they won the APFA title in their first season in Chicago. The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers have had a long-standing rivalry since the early days of the sport. A powerful running offence led by Red Grange and Bronko Nagurski helped the Bears win NFL championships in 1932 and 1933, the latter of which was won in the league’s first playoff game, a 9–0 triumph over the Portsmouth Spartans.

Bears quarterback Sid Luckman was instrumental in winning four additional championships in the 1940s, mainly due to his efforts. In the NFL, Luckman’s groundbreaking T-formation system, which featured two running backs and had players in motion before the play, became an instant phenomenon.

One more championship in 1963, and two all-time greats in linebacker Dick Butkus and running back Gale Sayers, were picked in 1965 by the Bears. However, despite the dominance of Butkus and Sayers on an individual level, the Bears failed to make the playoffs in any of the two seasons they played. Walter Payton’s arrival in 1975 marked the beginning of a decade of dominance for the Bears.

Joe Payton was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993 after breaking Jim Brown’s all-time rushing yardage record (which was later beaten by Emmitt Smith). Payton led the Bears to four division championships and one Super Bowl appearance (1985). After a 15–1 regular-season record, the 1985 Bears team was especially notable for its dominating defence, which allowed only 10 points in the club’s three postseason games after serving as the spark for a 15–1 regular-season record. Rap song “The Super Bowl Shuffle” and accompanying music video, which featured team members boasting about heading to the Super Bowl, were published before the regular season came to a close. The team became a national sensation.

It wasn’t until 2006 that Chicago Bears made it to the Super Bowl, where they were defeated by Indianapolis Colts. Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears in the NFC championship game following the 2010 regular season. The Bears failed to make the playoffs for the next four seasons, and in 2013 and 2014, the team’s “Monsters of the Midway” reputation was at its lowest ebb. The Bears improved their defence in the following two seasons, but still remained one of the NFL’s worst teams. It was a record-setting season for the Chicago Bulls, who finished with a 3–13 record.

The squad appointed Matt Nagy as head coach in 2018 after losing in the double digits for the previous four seasons. In Nagy’s first season in charge, the squad improved by seven victories, and he led Chicago to a division title before losing by a single point in the franchise’s first playoff game. Nagy’s rejuvenated offence for the Bears failed in 2019 and the squad only won eight games, missing out on a postseason berth.

Chicago Bears Biography/Wiki

Born in Detroit, Michigan on April 29, 1922, George Allen was an American professional football coach. He died in Rancho Palos Verdes, California on December 31, 1990.

During his time at Alma College (Michigan), Marquette University (Wisconsin), and the University of Michigan, Allen earned a Bachelor of Science degree and an M.S. degree (1947). He joined the NFL as an offensive-end coach for the Los Angeles Rams after coaching teams at Morningside College (Iowa) and Whittier College (California) (1957). The Chicago Bears won the National Football League title in 1963 under his tutelage as an assistant coach (1958–66).

To win two Western Division championships as head coach of the Los Angeles Rams from 1966 to 1970, he traded promising young talent in exchange for seasoned players. Three consecutive Eastern Division championships with the Washington Redskins (1971–1977), again built around senior players, were arguably even more amazing during his years as head coach of the Redskins (1971–1977).

In the short-lived United States Football League, Allen coached the Chicago Blitz in 1983 and the Arizona Wranglers in 1984. Long Beach State University hired him as a head football coach in 1989, and he did so for one season (California). Allen compiled a record of 144–69–5 in 14 seasons as head coach of professional football teams.
