Arsène Wenger Wiki/Bio

Arsène Wenger is a well-known football manager in France. In 1996, he became the manager of the ‘English Premier League’ (EPL) team ‘Arsenal,’ and has since become the club’s longest-serving manager. He has aided ‘Arsenal’ in winning a number of tournaments. He is credited for leading his team to more victories than any other manager in the history of the English Premier League. Arsène played football in the 1970s, but his career was short and unremarkable. In 1981, he earned his manager’s certificate. He began his managerial career with the French team ‘Nancy,’ and afterwards moved on to coach ‘AS Monaco.’ After that, he managed the Japanese squad ‘Nagoya Grampus Eight’ for a short time. He joined ‘Arsenal’ in 1996, and the partnership helped the ‘EPL’ team win a number of important competitions. In the 2004 league season, ‘Arsenal’ was undefeated, a feat not accomplished by any ‘Premier League’ team in 115 years. In April 2018, rumours regarding his retirement began to circulate. Arsène later corroborated the rumours.

He was born and raised in Duttlenheim, a village 10 miles south of Strasbourg. He was the youngest of the family’s three children. His father, Alphonse, was a WWII soldier who, like many Alsatians, was forced to fight for Nazi Germany. In October 1944, he fought for Germany on the Eastern Front.

Alphonse launched his own vehicle spare-parts business and a cafe after World War II ended. In his village, he also managed a football team. He was a football fanatic, and Arsène inherited his passion for the game. Arsène learned the game’s ins and outs from his father, who grew up playing football alongside him. The family’s financial situation was precarious, which made it difficult for Arsene to pursue his dream of becoming a footballer.

Arsène was introduced to football by his father when he was six years old, and by the age of twelve, he had joined ‘FC Duttlenheim,’ although the ages of the players were uneven due to a lack of young footballers in the hamlet. The crew faced numerous challenges as a result of this. He made it to the first team of ‘FC Duttlenheim at the age of 16, but due to a lack of a management and coach, Arsène had to train on his own.

Career

Arsène joined the semi-professional club ‘Mulhouse’ in the early 1970s while studying at the ‘University of Strasbourg.’ He finished his economics degree in 1974 and began representing the national French students’ squad. His time with ‘Mulhouse,’ where he worked closely with coach Paul Frantz, completely changed him. Paul instilled in him the value of proper nutrition and diet. He also instilled in him the value of focusing on a player’s strengths and weaknesses. Arsène received his manager’s diploma from Paris in 1981 after a few more years of playing. He began working as an assistant to manager Jean-Marc Guillou, who was with the ‘Ligue 2′ team ‘Cannes,’ in 1983. He learnt how to use knowledge about the opposing team’s players, including their strengths and flaws, to his advantage there. This aided ‘Cannes’ in their outstanding performance in ‘Ligue 2.’ Arsène’s dedication to the team was recognised, and he was shortly named manager of another French club, Nancy.

Arsène accepted the challenge of guiding a Ligue 1 squad that was struggling. The team was on the verge of being relegated from ‘Ligue 1’ due to a lack of competent players and effective management. Arsène worked hard enough in his debut season with the club to help the squad finish 12th in the final standings, which was a respectable place. The team, on the other hand, faced numerous challenges, the most serious of which was a lack of cash. During Arsène’s final season with the club, the team was demoted from Ligue 1 to Ligue 2.

In 1987, Arsène left Nancy to join AS Monaco. The squad performed admirably under his direction and emerged as one of the league’s best. The club reached the finals of the ‘Coupe de France’ in 1988–1989, but were defeated by ‘Marseille.’

The following season, ‘Monaco’ won the ‘Coupe de France’ trophy by defeating the champion ‘Marseille.’ As his work became more well-known, the prestigious German club ‘Bayern Munich’ offered him the position of manager, but ‘Monaco’ refused. Following the team’s dismal performance in the early months of the 1994–1995 season, he was fired by ‘Monaco’ in 1994. Around the same time, French football was undergoing a difficult period due to match-fixing charges against ‘Marseille.’ Arsène decided to leave France after observing the decline of morale in French football.

Arsène decided to lead the Japanese team ‘Nagoya Grampus Eight’ in December 1994. The squad was at its lowest, and the previous ‘J. League’ season had been awful. The next season, Arsène’s innovative tactics helped ‘Nagoya’ win 17 of the 27 games in the ‘J. League,’ finishing as runners-up in the 1995 ‘J. League.’ In 1996, the team won the Emperor’s Cup.

Arsène has completely changed the team. His performance drew a lot of attention. Arsène joined the ‘EPL’ team ‘Arsenal’ in the middle of the 1996–1997 season. In September 1996, this was formally confirmed. By that time, ‘Arsenal’ had deteriorated into one of the weaker ‘Premier League’ teams. In 1998, however, ‘Arsenal’ stunned everyone by winning the ‘FA Cup.’ This was a rare occurrence. The team had a mediocre performance in the following years, but people observed a huge difference in the manner they played.
