Kevin Spacey, full name Kevin Spacey Fowler, is an American actor who was born on July 26, 1959, in South Orange, New Jersey. He is most known for his dynamic portrayals in dark comedy.
Spacey’s family travelled around a lot when he was a kid, eventually settling in southern California. He began attending theatrical classes in high school and went on to appear in numerous school shows. In addition to comedy club appearances, he used his imitation skills.
He attended Los Angeles Valley College after graduation, but in 1979 he relocated to New York City and enrolled at the Juilliard School. Spacey moved on after two years and made his professional debut in Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Part I.
He made his Broadway debut in 1982, starring in Henrik Ibsen’s Ghosts. Following that, notable stage performances in Hurlyburly (1985) and Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey into Night (1986), as well as appearances in the films Heartburn (1986) and Working Girl (1986), followed (1988). Spacey earned a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for his role as mobster Uncle Louie in Neil Simon’s blockbuster Lost in Yonkers in 1991.
