Tony Robbins real name is Anthony J. Mahavorick, was an American motivational speaker and “life coach” who built a multifaceted business empire by preaching a gospel of self-improvement. He was born on February 29, 1960, in Glendora, California.
Anthony J. Mahavorick was born into a working-class family. He took on the surname of his stepfather as a child. He learned he had a gift for public speaking when he was young, and he started to read the works of inspirational authors such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Dale Carnegie. Robbins did not attend college and instead worked as a seminar organiser for motivational speaker Jim Rohn.
Career
He also received training from John Grinder, a linguist and co-developer of “modelling,” a method in which a trainee achieves success by closely replicating the conscious and unconscious behaviour of a successful individual.
Robbins started conducting his own seminars in the early 1980s, which he called “secular revival sessions.” Fire walking was a trust booster in Grinder’s Neuro-Linguistic Programming routine, and Robbins started to integrate the experience into his own programs. (In a well-known stunt, he accompanied Oprah Winfrey on a fire walk.) Writing books and later creating audiobooks, television infomercials, DVDs, and mobile applications helped him develop a following. In 2010, he hosted Breakthrough with Tony Robbins, a short-lived reality TV programme.
