What the cast members have been up to since the comedy My Wife and Kids went off the air in the early 2000s is a mystery. The program was a massive hit in the early 2000s. My Wife and Kids is an American sitcom that debuted in 2001 and chronicled the tale of a family named the Kyles and the amusing mayhem surrounding their everyday suburban existence. My Wife and Kids was a successful show during all five seasons, with co-creator Damon Wayans serving as the show’s leader for the ensemble cast.

In addition to Wayans, the experienced performer Tisha Campbell-Martin contributed her years of expertise to the production, which lifted it beyond the limitless number of other sitcoms that were flooding the airways at the time. The ensemble consisted of a great combination of younger and older actors, typical for most comedies. The cast’s chemistry was primarily responsible for many of the show’s most memorable and successful moments. Even though there was an almost continual state of change around My Wife and Kids throughout its run, the series never lost the spark between the characters that made it attractive in the first place. The show went through multiple significant recasts throughout its existence.

Damon Wayans, who also helped create the show, was a member of the ensemble cast of My Wife and Kids and played the role of Michael Kyle Sr., the devoted but sometimes goofy father of the family. Wayans went back to his sketch comedy origins when the sixth season of My Wife and Kids was cancelled, and he did so in the 2006 series The Underground, which he also developed. The Underground lasted just one season. Wayans found most of his success on television, where he played the main character of Roger Murtaugh in the television adaptation of the Lethal Weapon franchise from 2016 to 2019. Wayans appeared in the 2021 Live in Front of a Studio Audience episode special as Willis, a recreation of the popular television comedy Different Strokes.

Tisha Campbell-Martin was cast as Janet “Jay” Kyle, the patriarch of the Kyle family, who often attempted to keep things from falling apart. After joining the cast of “My Wife and Kids,” Campbell-Martin had no trouble finding continuous employment. She was soon hired in a recurring role on the comedy “All of Us,” where she remained until 2006. In addition to the scores of appearances that Campbell has made on television as herself in various game shows, she has also made cameos as Angelina in the film Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008) and as Coach Poppy in the movie The J Team (2021). After that, Campbell-Martin was cast in back-to-back leading roles on television, first as Suzanne Prentiss in the show Uncoupled and then as Keisha in the front of Act Your Age.

George O. Gore II portrayed Kyles’ only son, Michael Kyle Jr., who was intelligent but ultimately uninterested. Michael Jr. was named after his father. Gore had already switched to humorous work before being cast in My Wife and Kids, and after the program’s conclusion, he would continue working in a similar vein as he had been doing before. Gore worked with Wayans again on the sitcom Second Generation Wayans in 2013, in which he portrayed himself, and also gave his voice to the film A Boo Crew Christmas in 2017, among other projects. Gore was cast as the lead character Ray in the parody Dancing Flick, released in 2009.

Due to unpaid taxes, loans, auto leases, and many other obligations to the government and credit card bills, the couple’s total debt is close to $15 million. At the filing in January, the two said they only had a total of $373, comprised of $173 in a credit union and $200 in cash. They also revealed that neither their restaurant in Sherman Oaks nor their firm, XE Visions, Inc., make a profit anymore, which means that their financial future is highly reliant on the continuation of Tisha’s sitcom, The Dr. Ken Show.
