Thomas Rhett Wiki/Bio

Rhett Akins, a country singer, gave birth to Thomas Rhett on March 30, 1990, in Voldsta, Georgia, USA. His parents divorced when he was nine years old; the main reason for his parents’ divorce was his father’s career. He promised his mother that he would not pursue a career in music after witnessing the uncertainties of the music industry. He occasionally toured with his father, accompanying him on stage to play drums.

During his high school years, he was a member of the punk rock band ‘The High Heeled Flip Flops.’ Following graduation, he enrolled at ‘David Lipscomb University’ in Nashville, Tennessee, to study communications. However, due to his growing love for music, he dropped out of college at the age of 20 and began working on his music career. (Although he broke his promise to his mother, she stood by him.) He began playing at frat parties and clubs.

He grew up listening to country, rock, and hip-hop, and his music is a mash-up of all of these genres. His musical influences include the ‘Rolling Stones,’ ‘Willie Nelson,’ and ‘Merle Haggard.’ Rhett’s father had already established himself as a songwriter and was a member of the well-known songwriting team “The Peach Pickers” when Rhett began his music career.

In 2011, Akins was named BMI’s “Country Songwriter of the Year.” Thomas Rhett started writing songs with his father and once opened for singer-songwriter Frankie Ballard at a music industry showcase. Vaughn, an EMI official, liked Rhett’s music and offered him a publishing deal. Rhett signed with EMI in February 2010 and began writing songs for them.

He co-wrote the lyrics to Jason Aldean’s “I Ain’t Ready to Quit” (from the album “My Kinda Party”), as well as songs for Florida Georgia Line (‘Round Here,’ Scotty McCreery (‘Write Your Number on My Hand,’ and Lee Brice (‘Parking Lot Party.’ Around the same time, Vaughn from EMI took Rhett to various record labels for auditions, and he was offered a contract by ‘Big Machine Label Group.’ In 2011, he signed with ‘Valory Music Group,’ a division of ‘Big Machine Records.’

In 2012, Rhett released his debut single, ‘Something to Do with My Hands.’ The song peaked at number 19 on the ‘Country Singles Chart.’ The following year, he released ‘Beer with Jesus,’ which charted in the top 30 of the ‘Hot Country Songs.’ His third single, ‘It Goes Like This,’ was co-written with his father. It was his first number one on ‘Country Airplay,’ and it peaked at number two on ‘Hot Country Songs.

Career

Rhett’s next single, ‘Crash and Burn,’ the lead single from his next album, was released on April 7, 2015, and his second album, ‘Tangled Up,’ was released on September 25, 2015. ‘Die A Happy Man,’ his second single from the album, was released on September 28, 2015, and spent 8 weeks at the top of the ‘Country airplay’ chart. It was only the second time in the chart’s history that a song remained at the top. The song also topped the charts for ‘Hot Country Songs’ and ‘Canada Country.’ Lauren, his wife, was the inspiration for this song, and she also co-starred in the video, which has over 100 million views on ‘YouTube.’ Nelly, a hip-hop singer, liked this song and made his own cover version of it.

The third single from this album, ‘T-Shirt,’ which was released to country radio on February 16, 2016, peaked at number one on ‘Country Airplay,’ but it was panned for its lyrical content. Later that year, two more singles from the album were released: ‘Vacation’ and ‘Star of the Show – Deluxe Version.’

On September 8, 2017, Rhett released his third studio album, ‘Life Changes.’ The singles ‘Craving You,’ featuring Maren Morris, ‘Unforgettable,’ and ‘Marry Me,’ all reached the top of the charts. In 2018, ‘Marry Me’ became his tenth number one song on the Billboard Chart for Country Airplay. ‘Life Changes,’ the fourth single, was released in April 2018. It tells a storey about his struggles as a songwriter, as well as various changes in his adult life, and includes references to his wife and two daughters. ‘Sixteen,’ another autobiographical song from this album, narrates his own adolescence.
