Teezo Touchdown

Hip-hop performer who is best known for his tracks “RUNITUP,” “I’m Just A Fan,” and “Social Cues.” On his Instagram account, which is called teezotouchdown, he shares items relating to music, professional photographs, selfies, and lifestyle. He now has 120,000 people following him. In June of 2017, he started using Instagram to post his musical creations. On October 26, 2021, he published a photoshoot that had been taken for the magazine Interview.

Teezo Touchdown is one of those people who, no matter where he is, manages to carry a ray of sunshine with him. He can make even the most routine of circumstances interesting. Teezo, who lives in his own dimension, doesn’t alter the one-of-a-kind and genuine version of himself that he presents to everyone. You can’t help but be drawn into Teezo’s orbit, seeking to figure him out and finally finding that you can’t. There is something about Teezo that is so distinctive that it makes him stand out. It is fascinating to experience this strange person’s music and personality in action, despite the fact that we are unable to adequately characterize him.

Teezo has (actual) nails in his hair, platform rocker boots, and leather clothing, yet he isn’t afraid to talk about sensitive topics at all. Despite this “metal façade,” he doesn’t hold back. His music displays an open character with subjects such as checking in on friends and family, experiencing feelings of being underappreciated, and dealing with the ups and downs of interpersonal dynamics. In the previous several years, Teezo has accomplished a great deal, like recording music videos in front of a garage covered in graffiti, collaborating with Tyler on the song “RUNITUP,” and then going on tour with CMIYGL. This year is the same as the others.

Teezo was an obvious choice for the SYNY album given his magnetic stage presence, infectiously catchy music, and innovative approach to merging musical genres, and we are ecstatic that he was able to contribute to the project. When we interviewed Teezo in the year 2020, he responded by sending us a full video in which he provided his responses to our questions in the form of songs. This is not the first time that he has created a song for us. One of those responses served as the basis for his contribution to SYNY, which will be played for you very soon and is something we can’t wait for you to hear.

For now, go deeper into Teezo’s universe. This time, we were given his interview comments on his distinctive bright-yellow Post-It notes, which are now available for your perusal and enjoyment. Here you can find out more information on the compilation CD “See You Next Year” as well as the other musicians who are a part of the Class of ’22. Here is where you may pre-save the album, and in the near future, we will be sharing songs and providing other details about the release date.

Ugh, do we really need another rapper that views rap music as a forgettable slip in their overall branding strategy of one hundred points? Enter Teezo Touchdown, a rapper from Beaumont, Texas; he has been dubbed the “next rap freak,” which, of course, indicates that he is not really all that strange. People who have never spent more than five minutes browsing through SoundCloud think that he is incredibly unusual, which is why he was chosen to be a muse for haute couture. It is common practice to attach meaningless descriptors to his music, such as “punk,” “rockstar,” and “indie,” in an effort to disguise the reality that there is nothing there.

Just have a peek at the tiny catalog he has available. There’s a song from 2019 called “100 Drums” in which he raps in an unremarkable manner over Panic! At the Disco’s “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” which you can listen to here. (When will rappers realize that listening to one of the most successful songs of the 2000s and enjoying it is not as different as they believe it to be?) Then, in the year 2020, he had a song called “SUCKA!” that became somewhat popular online. In it, he raps like he’s been lifted straight from a Blaxploitation film, saying things like, “Why you hatin’ like a jive sucka?” His warbles may remind some people of a more melodic version of ZelooperZ, a member of Danny Brown’s Bruiser Brigade crew; nonetheless, he lacks ZelooperZ’s ear for production, swift flow switch-ups, and skill.

Teezo did not succeed despite receiving endorsements from popular internet artists such as Kenny Beats and Lil Yachty, appearing in a photo with Madonna on Instagram, and landing a forgettable feature on Tyler, the Creator’s album Call Me If You Get Lost. The next opportunity is the coveted position of opening for Tyler on his forthcoming tour. What he does have going for him, though, are the music videos that he has released. These music videos are often shot on a driveway that has weeds growing out of the pavement and in front of the same garage doors that are covered in graffiti.

Teezo, who normally dresses like an extra from Demolition Man and acts as if he is unaware the cameras are on him, incorporates a new element into each one to make them hypnotic on the first watch. This could be the gyrating mascots in “Rooting for You” or the way he stands on a dinner table in front of an indifferent Big Jade in “Technically.” However, in spite of the ridiculous images, it is difficult to overlook how little consideration was put into the actual music being played. He uses a corny songwriting tactic on his new song “I’m Just a Fan” in which he writes from the viewpoint of an actual house fan. The song is about his new girlfriend.

The accompanying video has him wearing a nail-strewn puffy frock while his arms whirl like fan blades, and it seems to primarily serve as an advertisement for the designer Matthew Williams’ partnership with Moncler. However, it does make logic. Teezo has generated more buzz on social media for the nails that are six inches long and stuck in his hair, as well as for the black mesh shirts and leather leggings that make him appear like he’s in a spoof of an ’80s hair metal video than he has for any song that he has released. Because of this, he has received the love that is the stuff of dreams for every fashion-obsessed rapper: glowing profiles in publications such as Dazed Digital, The Face, and most recently GQ, which are notoriously selective about which rappers they cover; and close ties with popular fashion brands such as Telfar and Balenciaga.

Don’t worry, it will get much more frustrating. Teezo conducts a campaign on Instagram called “rid the mid,” which GQ defined as an attempt to “eliminate mediocrity from his life and aim for excellence.” Teezo’s campaign can be seen on Instagram. Enough! Because A$AP Rocky was originally responsible for making LIVELOVEA$AP, I am willing to put up with him rambling on and on about “entrepreneurship” and “experimenting” about Testing. I didn’t give much thought to the incident in which Westside Gunn began spending an excessive amount of time with Virgil (during which we obtained the cursed tap dancer footage), but at least Pray for Paris resulted from it. Even Carti’s absurd “Narcissist” period, which I’m not even sure what a “Narcissist” era is (is it a fashion line? Is it a full-length album? Because Whole Lotta Red is so fantastic, you should use this as an excuse to post fit pictures on Instagram.

Teezo Touchdown, on the other hand, has not produced any music that is significant enough to make up for the fact that he is now the most intolerable fashion rapper. As the Tyler tour gathers up the pace, it will only grow more intolerable, and Teezo is well aware of this fact: The text “Don’t worry you’re early” is presently included in his Twitter profile. Jeez, dude, just quit bothering us and go make a living as a model. Make sure it’s a nice tune at the very least.Teezo Touchdown and the other members of his entourage, who are disguised as construction workers, are reminiscing about Teezo’s career. Literally.

A few streets away from Madison Square Garden in Manhattan is where the music video props and personal memories have been haphazardly put into boxes. These boxes can be found at Gotham Mini Storage. When we arrive at the storage locker on a Sunday afternoon in the middle of March, Teezo is just an hour away from performing the first of two consecutive gigs at the neighboring arena in support of Tyler, the Creator. When we leave the storage locker, Teezo will have played both shows.

The outside of the locker gives the impression that it may belong to anybody. There are no blatant signs that indicate that it belongs to Teezo, and fortunately, none of the nails that he often wears in his hair accidentally poke me in the foot. Inside, the walls are covered with moving fans from the music video for “I’m Just a Fan.” There are also football pads from his first live performances, flame-embroidered boots, and an unopened package of what he believes may be edibles from Madonna. The items within the locker may also be used as an archive of his career up to this point. These include hundreds of Teezo’s distinctive yellow sticky notes that have been written on with encouraging words such as, “You’re the biggest celebrity in the history of the world.”

The artist from Beaumont, Texas assures me that he and his lads (creative director Austyn Sux and photographer/actor Jacob Ford) are simply in the storage facility to get a few items, but it is starting to seem as if our quest has a more significant purpose. Teezo is currently on an arena tour with one of the most popular artists in the world, and he is ready to show me his highlight reel. After a few years of sharing songs that were wildly unpredictable and genre-defying, and leaving the internet baffled about the guy who wears nails on his own head, Teezo now finds himself on an arena tour, and he is eager to share his music with me. But I quickly come to the conclusion that we are not searching for a certain item or a memory in particular. We are, in a way, hoping for Teezo to score a touchdown.

When I was helping to introduce Teezo Touchdown to readers for his first big interview with Pigeons & Planes, which was about a year and a half ago, it was the first time I talked to Teezo Touchdown. He did not respond to each of my inquiries by providing a straightforward explanation; rather, he took the time to compose new songs and develop skits in response to each inquiry. Aside from his “uniform” of jeans and a beater, his reputation for making critically acclaimed music videos, the aforementioned nails, and a string of eccentric singles (“Sucka,” “Strong Friend”) is defined by an ear for wacky beats and an eye for even wackier metaphors, very little was known about the alternative naysayer at the time.

During our first encounter in the year 2020, I found out that he is the most theatrical character in the game, and ever since then, I’ve been eager to find out more about him. It would seem that Teezo is the same. Earlier in the day, Austyn and Jacob escorted me up to Teezo’s hotel room at the Spring Hill Suites. They were the ones that welcomed me when I arrived there. Austyn makes an appearance onstage throughout each and every one of Teezo’s performances, although these days he serves less as a hype guy and more as a “co-host” on the tour. He takes part in a performance that the band refers to as “Heavy Metal Only.
