Steve Austin Wiki/Bio

Steve Austin is an American television host, actor, and former professional wrestler who went by the ring name Stone Cold Steve Austin. He is largely considered as one of the all-time great and influential professional wrestlers. After playing college football at the University of North Texas, Austin began his professional wrestling career.

From 1991 until 1995, he wrestled as “Stunning” Steve Austin in World Championship Wrestling (WCW), portraying a gorgeous man who depended on his good looks and flowing blonde hair.

Following a brief appearance in Extreme Championship Wrestling, He joined as The Ringmaster with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in late 1995. He was rebranded as “Stone Cold” Steve Austin the following year, after growing a goatee and shaving his head. He achieved enormous mainstream appeal as a brash, profane, beer-drinking antihero who often opposed the establishment and his boss, WWE chairman Vince McMaho, after this character change. As a result, Austin became known as the “poster boy” of the Attitude Era.

Due to several knee injuries and a major neck injury, he was forced to withdraw from in-ring combat in 2003. He was featured as an on-screen authority figure of Raw throughout the rest of 2003 and 2004. During his wrestling career, Austin won 19 championships. He has won six WWF Championships and two WWF Intercontinental Championships. In WWE, he was a one-time Million Dollar Champion. He won two WCW World Television Championships, two WCW United States Heavyweight Championships, one WCW World Tag Team Championship, and one NWA World Tag Team Championship in WCW. He is also the fifth-ever WWE Triple Crown Champion, the 1996 WWF King of the Ring tournament winner, and a three-time Royal Rumble winner.

Au Austin established a podcast called The Stone Cold Podcast after his wrestling career ended, and he also released an IPA beer called “Broken Skull IPA.” From 2014 to 2017, Austin presented Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge, a reality competition show, and has been the star of Straight Up Steve Austin since 2019.

Austin was born Steven James Anderson on December 18, 1964, in Austin, Texas When he was around a year old, his parents, Beverly (née Harrison) and James Anderson, divorced. Austin’s mother relocated to Edna, Texas, where he spent the most of his childhood,  and married Ken Williams in 1968.  Austin formally changed his name to Steven James William after adopting his stepfather’s surname. Scott, Kevin, and Jeff are his three brothers, while Jennifer is his younger sister.

Because Kevin is only a year younger than Austin, Austin speculates in his memoirs that his father left because he couldn’t manage another child so soon.  After graduating from Edna High School, he received a football scholarship at Wharton County Junior College, which was followed by a full scholarship. Austin would later remark that the first wrestling events he attended were those staged by Houston Wrestling and run by Paul Boesch, “I was 7 or 8 years old when I first became interested in the industry. I’d always aspired to be a professional wrestler. Wrestling was the most important aspect of my life “.. Austin was about 30 miles from the Dallas Sportato when he moved to attend university.

Adams’ training was strictly technical, instructing Austin on the manoeuvres but not on kayfabe (which was still a closely kept secret at the time) or business. Austin would later refer to Adams as a “conman” who “didn’t care about the law.” Tony Falk, the referee in his 1989 televised WCCW debut versus Frogman LeBlanc, taught him the lesson by calling the spots, which led to a pinfall and a $40 paycheck. [requires citation] The Von Erich family, Dusty Rhodes, and Ric Flair were early influencers on his career. When the World Championship Wrestling Corporation (WCCW) and the Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) merged to form the United States Wrestling Association, he was nicknamed Steve Austin by Memphis booker Dutch Mantell (USWA).

Austin eventually returned to Dallas, where he was handled by Percy Pringle. When he joined WCW, he was dubbed “Stunning” Steve Austin, a name and gimmick he later said he couldn’t commit to.  Austin was initially paired with Vivacious Veronica, a valet, but was later joined by Jeannie Adams, aka “Lady Blossom.”  Austin won his first WCW World Television Championship just weeks after his debut, defeating Bobby Eaton.
