Sara Bareilles Wiki/Bio

Sara Bareilles was born on December 7, 1979, in the California town of Eureka, to Bonnie Halvorsen, a funeral home worker, and Paul Bareilles, an insurance adjuster, who met while working at a funeral home. She was raised in Eureka, California, with her two sisters and a half-sister, all of whom are actors. She is of Italian, English, German, Portuguese, and French ancestry, as well as other nationalities.

She had a strong enthusiasm for singing at an early age, and she sang in the ‘Limited Edition’ chorus at her high school. She performed in musical shows in the local community theatre as well as in the production of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ at her high school. For her, childhood was a difficult time, as she was bullied and body humiliated by other children.

She even had to change schools because she was being bullied too much by the other students. ‘University of California, Los Angeles’ is where she received her high school diploma in 1998 and went on to study communication studies there (UCLA). She was a member of the Cappella ensemble ‘Awaken a Cappella’. The group’s performance of ‘Gravity’ was included on the compilation CD titled ‘Best of College a Cappella 2004 Compilation.’

“UCLA Spring Sing,” an annual student concert, was where she made her debut. After completing her undergraduate studies at UCLA in 2002, she got a job as a waitress. Sara Bareilles identifies as a feminist, according to her. Her feelings on the subject were expressed in the following way: “I don’t like seeing great, bright women degraded to sex symbols.”

Supporter of the LGBT community, she is a member of the LGBT community herself. Sara and actor Joe Tippett first met in 2015 when both auditioning for the role of ‘Waitress.’ The two then began dating and made their first public appearance at the 2017 ‘Tony Awards’ in Los Angeles. She was previously involved with Javier Dunn, with whom she had a child. She owns a residence in the city of Venice.

She is currently unattached. In reality, she has largely kept her personal life under wraps, with no information about her love life being made public to the media. When Sara Bareilles released her debut album Little Voice in 2007, it appeared as if she was a throwback to a different time. She owed much of her success to audaciously melodic songwriting, which she demonstrated in her hit track “Love Song,” a song that managed to bring classic singer/songwriter clichés into the present day while remaining true to her roots.

This ability to connect with the past while also having a keen sense of the present helped Bareilles establish herself as one of the most successful and long-lasting singers/songwriters of her generation. In the late 2000s and early 2010s, she amassed a string of top-ten singles (including “Love Song,” which peaked at number four in 2002, “King of Anything,” which peaked at number 32 in 2010, and “Brave,” which peaked at number 23 in 2013) before relocating to Broadway, where she composed the songs for the 2015 musical adaptation of Adrienne Shelly’s Waitress.

A second home was discovered in the theatre, where Bareilles received a Tony nomination for her score for the 2016 animated film SpongeBob SquarePants. She then starred as Mary Magdalene in NBC’s television production of Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, which earned her two Emmy nominations for her performance. By this point, she had established herself as a fixture in the entertainment industry, having won a Grammy for her song “Saint Honesty” in 2019 and adapted her songbook for the 2020 Apple TV+ television series Little Voice.

She later learned to play the piano while attending UCLA, where she was enrolled in the Communication Studies program. There, Bareilles spent most of her leisure time learning about her new environment and penning poetry and songs about the bustling cityscapes that she had discovered. Her first three years after college were spent performing her songs at open-mike evenings, gradually establishing her confidence as a performer before moving on to smaller clubs and festivals.

When she co-produced her first demo, Careful Confessions, in 2003, she discovered her passion for recording and got fascinated by the process. Thrilled with the prospect of returning to the studio and recording a second full-length album, she began pushing her CD around and eventually landed a deal with Epic Records in April 2005.

Her first major-label release, Careful Confessions, was released in February of that year, and she worked with producer Eric Rosse for a little over a year to perfect the orchestration — nearly half of the songs had previously appeared on the album, and a new batch of songs was carefully constructed in order to make her first major-label release as strong as possible.

Its lyrical topics, which were covered in her last album, Little Voice, which was released in July 2007, included her prior relationships, fears, and internal conflicts with attempting to trust her intuition. When the album’s lead single, “Love Song,” was released, it immediately became a hit; both the song and the album reached the Top Ten, with “Love Song” eventually selling more than three million copies.

Bareilles embarked on a two-year tour in support of her chart-topping record, Between the Lines: Sara Bareilles Live at the Fillmore, during which she released a live album (Between the Lines: Sara Bareilles Live at the Fillmore). Making her songs available for public performance on a nightly basis prompted her to start creating new material, and she found herself drawn to material that was louder, bolder, and more upbeat than the songs that formed Little Voice.

The result was Kaleidoscope Heart, which became her second major-label record when it was released in mid-2010, marking her second major-label attempt. Kaleidoscope Heart opened at number one on the Billboard charts, marking the beginning of a busy year for Bareilles in the music industry. She continued to travel in support of the record far into 2011, and in the fall of that year, she was invited to serve as a judge on NBC’s televised singing competition The Sing-Off.

Immediately following the conclusion of The Sing-season Off’s in the spring of 2012, Bareilles went into the studio and recorded the Once Upon a Time EP with Ben Folds, another judge on the show. She toured on a semi-regular basis during 2012 while working on a new album. The Blessed Unrest was the title of her fourth studio album, which was released in July 2013 and was her fourth overall. The Blessed Unrest debuted at number two on the Billboard Top 200 upon its release, and it garnered a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year the following year.

The track “Brave” was also nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance at the time of the nomination. Following the completion of the album cycle for The Blessed Unrest, Bareilles switched her attention to finishing a book and writing the music for Diana Paulus’ Broadway musical adaption of Adrienne Shelly’s 2007 film Waitress, which will premiere in 2019. Both projects first appeared on the scene in the fall of 2015.

What’s Inside: Songs from Waitress, which was released in November, was inspired by the book Sounds Like Me, which was published in October. Her association with Waitress continued into 2017 when Bareilles made her Broadway debut in the musical Jenna Hunterson, which ran for a limited ten-week run. It was in 2018 that she returned to the role, before starring as Mary Magdalene in a television adaption of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert! She was nominated for an Emmy for her performance, and the film was later nominated for a Grammy for its production.

In 2019, Bareilles released her sixth studio album, Amidst the Chaos, which featured songwriting contributions from Lori McKenna and production by T.Bone Burnett. The album marked Bareilles’ come back to the pop music scene. It peaked at number six on the Billboard 200 album chart in the United States.

Following that, she received her first Grammy in the category of Best American Roots Performance for “Saint Honesty,” a song she had played as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live the previous year. After her song of the same name, the 2020 Apple TV+ comedy-drama Little Voice was titled after her and featured her performance in it.

In 2021, Bareilles will release her debut live album, Amidst the Chaos: Live from the Hollywood Bowl, which will capture a concert she performed at the legendary Los Angeles venue in November of that year. Sara Bareilles had two ‘Grammy Award’ nominations in 2009 for the track ‘Love Song,’ which was nominated for both ‘Song Of The Year’ and ‘Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.’
