Ralph Macchio Wiki/Bio
Ralph Macchio was born in Huntington, Long Island, New York, on November 4, 1961. He is the older of Rosalie and Ralph Macchio Srtwo .’s sons. The name of his parents is ranch owners Rosalie and Ralph George Macchio. Macchio said in a 1980 screen test that his family is from Naples. Macchio graduated from New York’s Half Hollow Hills Central School District in 1979.
When Macchio was 15, his grandmother introduced him to his partner, Phyllis Fierro. On April 5, 1987, he married Phyllis Fierro, and they have two twins, Julia and Daniel. Fierro is a nurse practitioner who specialises in women’s health.
Macchio began tap dancing lessons at the age of three and was spotted at the age of sixteen while doing an Eddie Cantor imitation at a nearby dance recital. He was contacted by an agency, who started sending him on commercial auditions. Macchio, on the other hand, was not convinced that he wanted to be an actress. When an interview clashed with a beach party invitation that seemed too tempting to pass up, he sent a friend in his place to the audition.
Career
On the TV show Eight is Enough, Macchio landed the role of Betty Buckley’s rough-and-tumble nephew and became an instant teen heartthrob. When the show concluded, he auditioned for—and was cast in—the role of Johnny Cade in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 film The Outsiders, which starred Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, and Matt Dillon.
Macchio’s most well-known role was as Daniel LaRusso in The Karate Kid, which he played in 1984. The film catapulted the baby-faced actor to glory, but amid the film’s popularity and Macchio’s newfound celebrity, he struggled to find quality parts. While he played a high school student, Macchio was 22 at the time of The Karate Kid, and although his youthful look fit well in the film, it made transitioning to adult roles challenging.
In 1992, Macchio had another big screen hit with My Cousin Vinny, in which he co-starred with Marisa Tomei and Joe Pesci. Despite the film’s positive reception, it did not lead to any further leading roles in big motion pictures. However, he started to work, appearing in a road production of How to Succeed in Business Without Even Trying in 2005 and minor roles in TV shows such as Entourage and Ugly Betty in 2008.
Macchio participated in the 12th season of ABC’s dance reality programme Dancing with the Stars in 2011, finishing fourth. The film, according to the star, gave his career a boost. Since then, he has created the National Geographic Channel series American Gypsies and starred alongside Ben Stiller, Jesse Eisenberg, and Vanessa Williams in the film He’s Way More Popular Than You.
Macchio is currently reprising his role as Daniel LaRusso in Cobra Kai, a Netflix action comedy-drama series that premiered in 2018 and is told in episodic style. Along with William Zabka, he is a co-executive producer on the show. The series is set 34 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament and follows a down-and-out Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) who reopens the Cobra Kai dojo in order to get his life back on track and seek revenge for his failure in the 1984 tournament. This reignites his competition with a now-successful LaRusso, who has been trying to maintain a sense of order in his life without the help of his mentor, Mr. Miyagi, who has since passed away.
