Oh Land Wiki/Bio

Oh Land is the stage name of Nanna land Fabricius, a Danish singer-songwriter and record producer whose birth name is Nanna land. Oh Land was born in Copenhagen, the daughter of organist Bendt Fabricius (not to be confused with composer Bent Fabricius Bjerre) and opera soprano Bodil land. In fact, she is the great-great-granddaughter of Otto Fabricius, a Lutheran missionary and ethnographer who wrote Fauna Groenlandica in 1780, which was the first publication of zoological data of Greenland.

The Royal Danish and Royal Swedish Ballet schools both trained her in the art of dancing. In the end, she was forced to give up dancing due to an accident caused by a slipped disc and a spinal fracture, which eventually inspired her to begin composing music herself. The following January, she relocated to New York City, where she resided in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Oh Land returned to his home country of Denmark in 2016. In 2013, she tied the knot with artist and designer Eske Kath at a zoo in Denmark. Svend was born on February 14, 2016, in New York City, to her and her husband, David. Immediately after Svend’s birth, the family relocated to Sborg, a northern suburb of Copenhagen. The Danish authorities awarded the couple separation permission on October 23rd, 2018, which they were able to use.

She travels with a tiny dog named Ujan, who she occasionally takes with her. A second son with her lover Adi Zukanovi, known to the public as Most, was born on August 21, 2020, to Oh Land and Adi Zukanovi; the child’s real name is still a closely guarded family secret. Nanna was born on May 2, 1985, in Copenhagen, Denmark, to an opera singer mother and an organist father.

She was a former ballet student who decided to pursue a musical career after an injury caused by a slipped disc and spinal fracture forced her to give up dancing a slipped disc and spinal fracture. Oh Land’s debut album, Fauna, was released on November 10, 2008, in her home country of Denmark by the indie label Fake Diamond Records, which is owned by Oh Land.

Following that, she embarked on a voyage across the ocean to the artistic refuge of Brooklyn, New York, where she collaborated with producers Dan Carey, Dave McCracken, and Pharrell Williams on her self-titled follow-up, which also served as her international debut disc. Europe and the United States received the album on March 14, 2011, with the United States receiving the album the following day.

Her opera singer mother, theatre organist father and Björk’s Homogenic album on continual rotation were all influences on Oh Land, who was enthralled by the fusion of experimental and traditional arts as a child. According to Oh Land, his goal is to sound like he’s from the year 2050 while maintaining a traditional sense as if the music is an old buddy.

She used to spend her days pirouetting as a ballet dancer at the Danish Royal Ballet Academy, but an injury drove her to reinvent herself and uncover her actual gift and love as a musician, which she had never realized before. In 2011, Oh Land was found by Danish producer Kasper Bjerke, who quickly released her debut album Fauna, which received widespread critical praise in her home country of Denmark.

Her soundscapes are lavish, crunchy, orchestral, forceful, and captured by rhythms that fly apart. She is a musician who lives in Los Angeles. A handcrafted one-woman-band music box topped with balloon video projections serves as her live translation device, and she performs it in front of an audience (seeing is believing). Moving to her music is essential, and new tracks like the thundering Sun of a Gun and the ecstatic White Nights have proven to be effective in getting even the most stoic to get up and dance.

Epic Records signed her after discovering her at the 2009 South by Southwest music festival. She is now working on her US debut album and a follow-up EP, which will be released this fall. In her home Denmark, Oh Land’s debut album Fauna was published on November 10th, 2008 by the independent label Fake Diamond Records, which was founded by her mother.

Her eponymous follow-up album was produced by Dan Carey, Dave McCracken, and Lester Mendez, who also worked on her debut album. The album was published on March 14, 2011, and reached the top five of the Danish Albums Chart the following week. Her debut album in the United States was released on March 15, 2011, by Epic Records, and peaked at number 184 on the Billboard 200 list.

Previously, on October 19, 2010, a four-track EP with the same title was published, which had four tracks from the full-length album. On April 7, 2011, she received the Brink of Fame: Music Artist award at the 2011 NewNowNext Awards, which were held in New York City. Performing her track “Sun of a Gun” on The Late Show with David Letterman on March 2, 2011, Oh Land made her television debut appearance in the United States.

She also performed it on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on March 24, 2011, and on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on May 25, 2011, as well as on other television shows. On the spring tour of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark in North America, Oh Land was joined by Sia for the We Are Born tour in North America, which took place in July and August of that year.

She also opened for Katy Perry on select US dates of her California Dreams Tour in August 2011, and she re-joined Perry for the tour’s second leg in the United Kingdom and Ireland in October and November of the same year. Oh Land made her acting debut in the 2007 Danish psychological drama film Hvid nat, in which she played Sara, a supporting part.

Career

Her song ‘Speak Out Now’ was used as the theme music for the television series Rita, which premiered in 2012 and ran for two seasons. Oh Land’s third studio album, Wish Bone, was released on May 20, 2013, and the lead single from the album, “Renaissance Girls,” was released on the same day. According to Dave Sitek, the album was released in Denmark on September 16th, and it will be published in the United States on September 24th, both through his boutique record company Federal Prism.

The second single, “Pyromaniac,” was released on September 2, 2013, and is the band’s third overall. She launched her Wish-Bone tour at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on September 20th, marking the beginning of the tour’s first leg. Sun Rai and (Who Is) Anastasia appeared at the performance as special guests, and they will both appear with her at the Gramercy Theatre on September 24, according to the singer.

She also appears as Marie in the 2014 Danish western The Salvation, which also stars Mads Mikkelsen, Eva Green, and Eric Cantona and had its world premiere at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2014. The Salvation premiered at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2014.

Announcing her fourth studio album, Oh Land announced that it would be recorded in her Brooklyn apartment and crowdfunded in collaboration with PledgeMusic; a portion of the proceeds would also be donated to Greenpeace’s Save the Arctic campaign. Oh Land’s fourth studio album is set to be released on June 28th, 2014.

The album was eventually titled Earth Sick, and the lead song, “Head Up High,” was released on October 6, 2014, marking the first official release of the album. Oh Land made her live television debut with “Head Up High” on Denmark’s Voice Junior on September 23, 2014, for which she also acts as a coach.

“Head Up High” was released on October 20, 2014, and received a world premiere on the Nylon website, which described it as “a victorious electro-jam smattered with twinkling bells and grounding percussion.” While this description could be applied to other songs, they felt that the new track still demonstrated.

Oh Land’s evolution and maturation as an artist, despite the fact that it was released in 2014. Also announced was the release of Earth Sick, which will be published on the Tusk or Tooth label on November 11th, 2014 by Nylon. Those who had pre-ordered the album through her pledge site were able to download the title track on October 27th, and the following day it was made available as an instant download track on other retailers’ websites as well as on her pledge site.

Oh Land was revealed as the composer for the Cinderella pantomime at Tivoli Pantomime Theatre in Copenhagen, as well as for a royal ballet with Queen Margrethe II as scenographer and the award-winning Russian choreographer Yuri Possokhovs, which premiered on November 23, 2015. Oh Land’s debut soundtrack CD, “Askepot (Musikken fra forestalling I Tivolis Pantomime teater),” was released digitally on November 4, 2016, and is available on iTunes.

Oh Land partnered with her husband, visual artist Eske Kath, on the interactive art exposition “SKIBET,” which was on display at Nikolaj Kunsthal from August 23, 2017, to January 7, 2018, in which they both participated. Watermusic, the soundtrack record from the exhibition, was released on March 30, 2018, by the artist. “Der Var Et Yndigt Land” is a modified version of Denmark’s national anthem, which was recorded by Oh Land in 2018 for the Netflix series The Rain, which was released the following year.

Oh Land performed live on Danish television on May 27, 2018, to commemorate the 50th birthday of the Crown Prince of Denmark. She performed at the Danish Royal Arena in Copenhagen with the DR Symphony Orchestra, live garden, the DR junior choir, and 25 dancers, as well as musicians Adi Zukanovic and Hans Hvidberg. In July 2018, she was appointed as an ambassador for the WWF’s Wild Schoolprojekt, and she traveled to Kenya to participate in an activity organized by the project.

Earlier this month, she released the single “Human Error” and announced the release of her new album, “Family Tree,” which will be published on May 3, 2019. In the same year, she made her television debut as a judge on the twelfth season of the Danish talent competition X Factor. Oh Land composed the music for a musical adaptation of the H.C. Andersen fairy tale “The Snow Queen,” which will premiere on December 1, 2019, at Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Consumes were created by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. Oh Land, a Danish indie rock band, will release a new studio album in 2019, marking the band’s first studio album in five years. In what she is billing as her most personal release to date, Oh Land (real name Nanna land Fabricius) will collaborate with producer Thomas “Doveman” Bartlett – who has worked on albums such as Sufjan Stevens’ Carrie & Lowell and Florence and the Machine’s “Sky Full of Song” – for her third studio album.

It was in 2014 that Oh Land launched her fourth studio album Earth Sick. “Since the release of my latest album, I’ve gone through the most extreme highs and lows of my personal life,” Oh Land stated in a statement about her new record. I’ve found some healing in melody and music, and the songs that have resulted are really personal to me.”

Despite the fact that it has been five years since Oh Land last produced a studio album, the singer has kept herself busy writing music for numerous projects in her home country of Danish. As the title song for the Netflix apocalyptic sci-fi series The Rain, Oh Land recreated the Danish National Anthem with a modern twist. The sequel to Earth Sick is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2019.
