She was a former co-anchor of CBS This Morning and Chief White House Correspondent for CBS News, as well as a replacement host for CBS’s Sunday morning show Face the Nation, among other positions.

Norah O’Donnell’s parents, Francis and Norah O’Donnell, welcomed her into the world on January 23, 1974, in Washington, D.C. Francis, her father, was a general in the United States Army. Because of her father’s job, her family has relocated several times, including to San Antonio, Texas, and Seoul, Korea. Her two sisters are named Francis O’Donnell and Mary O’Donnell, respectively.

She is of Irish origin and holds the nationality of the United States. Aquarius is her zodiac sign, and she is born under this sign. She becomes only the second female host of the CBS Evening News in the show’s 72-year history, and the first to do so solo. When O’Donnell takes over for Glor on May 20, she will be the first woman in history to do so. After 25 years with the show, she is just the show’s second female lead anchor, following the investigative journalist who has been with the show for 15 years. The show was previously hosted by Katie Couric, who served as host from 2006 to 2011.
