NCT 127 is the South Korean boy band NCT’s second sub-unit. All ten members of NCT 127 were cast through numerous auditions and trained under SM Entertainment’s trainee group SM Rookies as part of the larger group, which comprises of 21 members.
NCT 127 debuted on July 7, 2017 with the release of their first extended play “NCT #127,” which had seven members: Taeyong, Taeil, Yuta, Jaehyun, Winwin, Mark, and Haechan. The EP began at number two on the Gaon Album Chart, advancing to number one in its third week. It also reached at number two on the Billboard World Albums Chart, including singles “Fire Truck” and “Switch” (with SR15B).
In December 2016, additional members Johnny and Doyoung joined the group after their successful debut. On January 5, 2017, the now-nine-piece band began promoting their second EP “Limitless” by releasing the music video for the title tune. The EP was a huge success once again, debuting at the top of the Gaon Album Chart in Korea and the Billboard World Albums Chart.
On June 14, 2017, NCT 127 released their third EP, “Cherry Bomb,” which included the lead track of the same name. The album reached number two on the Gaon Album Chart, and Billboard and Idolator rated the lead single one of the finest K-pop songs of the year.
Jungwoo became the eleventh member of the group in September. The group’s first full-length album, “Regular-Irregular,” was released the following month and debuted at number 86 on the Billboard 200. NCT 127 released a digital EP called “Up Next Session: NCT 127” on Apple Music on October 21.NCT’s active units collaborated on a full-length studio album titled “NCT 2018 Empathy” in 2018.
