Luke Bryan Wiki/Bio
Thomas Luther ‘Luke’ Bryan was born on July 17, 1976, in rural Leesburg, Georgia, USA, to LeClaire Watkins and Tommy Bryan. His father farmed peanuts. Luke had an older sister, Kelly, and an older brother, Chris.
Luke was to move to Nashville when he was 19 years old. Tragically, his elder brother Chris was killed in a car accident. Bryan couldn’t leave his family in such a state, so he enrolled at ‘Georgia Southern University’ in Statesboro, Georgia. He was a member of the fraternity ‘Sigma Chi’ in college. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1999. Bryan moved to Nashville in 2007, after his father persuaded him to pursue a career in music. Bryan went to work for a publishing house in Nashville after arriving. Travis Tritt’s 2004 album ‘My Honky Tonk History’ featured his first single.
Bryan signed a recording contract with ‘Capitol Nashville’ not long after arriving in Nashville. He co-wrote Billy Currington’s single “Good Directions” during this time. In 2007, the song peaked at number one on the ‘Hot Country Songs’ chart.
Bryan co-wrote his debut single, ‘All My Friends Say,’ with producer Jeff Stevens. The song peaked at number five on the chart of “Hot Country Songs.” Bryan released his debut studio album, ‘I’ll Stay Me,’ following the success of his debut single. While its second single, ‘We Rode in Trucks,’ reached number 33 on the charts, its third single, ‘Country Man,’ reached number 10.
Bryan released an extended play (EP) titled ‘Spring Break with All My Friends’ on March 10, 2009. ‘Sorority Girls’ and ‘Take My Drunk Ass Home’ were two new songs on the EP. It also included an acoustic rendition of “All My Friends Say.” In May 2009, he released his fourth single, ‘Do I,’ as a follow-up to the EP. The song became extremely popular, reaching the number two spot on the ‘Hot Country Songs’ chart.
Bryan released his second album, ‘Doin’ My Thing,’ in October 2009. The album included his single “Do I” and a cover of “Apologize” by OneRepublic. He followed it up with two singles, ‘Rain Is a Good Thing’ and ‘Someone Else Calling You Baby,’ both of which reached the top of the country music charts.
Bryan released his second EP, ‘Spring Break 2…Hangover Edition,’ on February 26, 2010, which included three new songs, namely ‘Wild Weekend,’ ‘Cold Beer Drinker,’ and ‘I’m Hungover.’
Bryan released his third EP, ‘Spring Break 3…It’s a Shore Thing,’ on February 25, 2011, exactly a year after his second EP. The EP included four new songs: ‘In Love With the Girl,’ ‘If You Ain’t Here to Party,’ ‘Shore Thing,’ and ‘Love In a College Town.’
Bryan released his seventh single, ‘Country Girl (Shake It For Me),’ on March 14, 2011, following his third EP. It reached number four on the country music charts and number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In August 2011, he released his third studio album, ‘Tailgates & Tanlines.’ The album charted at number one on the ‘Top Country Albums’ chart and number two on the ‘Billboard 200.’ All three of its new singles, ‘I Don’t Want This Night to End,’ ‘Drunk on You,’ and ‘Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye,’ charted at number one in country music.
Bryan released his fourth ‘Spring Break’ EP, ‘Spring Break 4…Suntan City,’ in March 2012. The EP included three new songs: ‘Spring Break-Up,’ ‘Little Bit Later On,’ and ‘Shake the Sand.’
Bryan released his first compilation album, ‘Spring Break…Here to Party,’ in January 2013, with 14 songs, only two of which were new. The remaining 12 songs were taken from his previous ‘Spring Break’ EPs. The album debuted at number one on both the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and the Billboard 200 chart, making it his first all-genre album to do so.
Bryan released his fourth studio album, ‘Crash My Party,’ in August 2013. In July 2013, the title track peaked at number one on the ‘Country Airplay’ chart. Its second single, “That’s My Kind of Night,” reached number one on the “Hot Country Songs” chart and number two on the “Country Airplay” chart. Its third and fourth singles, ‘Drink A Beer’ and ‘Play It Again,’ followed in the footsteps of its predecessors, peaking at number one on both charts. He then followed them up with the equally successful fifth and sixth singles, ‘That’s How We Roll’ and ‘I See You.’
Bryan released his sixth EP, ‘Spring Break 6…Like We Ain’t Ever,’ in March 2014. He then released his most recent ‘Spring Break’ EP, ‘Spring Break…Checking Out,’ in March 2015. The EP included six songs from the previous year’s EP as well as five new songs.
Bryan released his fifth studio album, ‘Kill the Lights,’ in May 2015. The album outperformed Dr. Dre’s ‘Compton,’ debuting at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. All six singles from the album reached number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, making Bryan the first artist in the chart’s 27-year history to have six number one singles from a single album.
Bryan was one of 30 artists to perform ‘Forever Country,’ a mash-up of ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads,’ ‘On the Road Again,’ and ‘I Will Always Love You,’ in 2016.
Luke Bryan sang the national anthem at ‘Super Bowl LI’ at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas in February 2017.
On December 8, 2017, his sixth album, ‘What Makes You Country,’ was released. Bryan appeared as a judge on ‘American Idol’ in 2019, alongside Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. In the same year, he released his debut album, ‘Knockin’ Boots.’
