Lukas Graham Forchhammer and his eponymous band play a mix of funky pop and R&B. They are based in Christiania, a free-living neighborhood in Copenhagen. Graham tells stories of family fights, bad decisions, and celebrating life, all of which are tied to his time in Christiania by his soulful voice and honest lyrics.
The song “7 Years” went to number one in seven countries in 2015. It was on the group’s second album, which was self-titled but was called “The Blue Album” (it narrowly missed the top of the U.S. charts). Graham and the other members of his current band got their start in Denmark at the end of 2011.
