Jim Brown Wiki/Bio

Brown was born on February 17, 1936, in St. Simons, Georgia. For decades, he was regarded as one of the greatest running backs of all time. Later on, he became a successful actor. At Syracuse University, Brown was an all-around athlete who excelled in basketball, baseball, track, and lacrosse as well as football during his time at the college. Lacrosse National Hall of Fame recognized Brown as a great lacrosse player.

Brown played in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns from 1957 to 1965, and he was the league leader in rushing yards in all but one year during that span. At 6 feet 1 inch (1.88 meters) and 232 pounds (105 kilograms), Brown was a powerful runner who could both outrun and run over his opponents.

It took O.J. Simpson 14 games in 1973 to break his record of 1,863 running yards in 1963, which he set in 1958 with 1,527 yards on a 12-game schedule, and in 1958 with 1,527 yards on a 12-game schedule. When he ran for 237 yards in a single game on November 24, 1957, he set a new NFL record, and he equaled it on November 19, 1961.

His career ended with 126 touchdowns, 106 of which came on the ground, a record 12,312 yards rushing (2,359) for an average of 5.22 yards, and a combined yardage total of 14,811 yards rushing and receiving (both rushing and pass receptions).

While at the peak of his athletic prowess, Brown quit football at the age of 30 to pursue a career in acting. Along with The Dirty Dozen (1967), 100 Rifles (1969), and the blaxploitation films Slaughter (1972), Three the Hard Way (1973), he had roles in a number of other action and adventure films (1974). In addition, he appeared frequently on television and in comedies including Mars Attacks! (1996) and She Hate Me (2004). Additionally, Brown took an active role in rehabilitating gang members and assisting black-owned businesses.

When it came to domestic violence allegations, Brown had a number of run-ins with the law. He was convicted of vandalizing his wife’s automobile in 1999 and sentenced to prison. However, even though the court granted Brown probation in exchange for him complying with the court’s terms, which included treatment, Brown turned it down, spending the better part of a year in jail instead of in 2002.

Spike Lee’s documentary, Jim Brown: All American, was released that year. In 1989, Out of Bounds (co-authored with Steve Delsohn) was released as an autobiography.

New York’s Syracuse University is a prestigious private, coeducational university in the city of Syracuse. 13 colleges and schools provide more than 400 programs of study for students at all levels, from undergraduate to doctoral. Aging Studies Institute, Center for Advanced Systems and Engineering, Syracuse Biomaterials Institute are some of the research centers of Syracuse University. More than 3.4 million books are housed in university libraries.

The College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. A number of programs are also offered outside of the United States, including in London and Florence. Approximately 21,000 students are enrolled.

When Methodist-run Genesee College, formerly in Lima, New York, moved to Syracuse in 1870, it became the first official campus of Syracuse University. In 1871, courses were first held there. As of this semester, a university is no longer a place of worship. From 1872 through 1950, Syracuse University controlled the College of Medicine, which was originally formed as Geneva Medical College in 1834.

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications was established at Syracuse University thanks to a $15 million donation from newspaper magnate S.I. Newhouse. Among Syracuse University’s notable alumni are novelists Shirley Jackson and Joyce Carol Oates, Paul Taylor, Jim Brown, and Joe Biden.

the sport of football, one of a number of comparable sports where two people or teams try to kick or carry a ball toward an opponent’s goal. There are games where you can only move forward by kicking; there are also games where you can move forward by other means. Football (soccer), football, gridiron, rugby, Australian rules football, and Gaelic football are all examples of modern football sports.

This spontaneous competition to kick around items one way rather than the other resulted in the first game of football being played. Historians have no notion how organized football games were played in Greece and China more than 2,000 years ago.  Lacrosse’s origins can be traced back to stickball games practiced by the indigenous peoples of North America, but kicking games were far less prevalent.

Pagan fertility rites may have inspired the folk football games of the 14th and 15th centuries, which were typically performed at Shrovetide or Easter. Those meetings were everything from calm. A wooden or leather ball (or inflated animal bladder) was kicked, threw, and carried across fields and over streams, through tiny gateways and narrower streets by all ages and classes of people, including men and women, adults and children, wealthy and poor.

During a flurry of activity, a villager somehow managed to get the ball into the parish church of the rival community. A distinction between married and unmarried players in the early days of folk football in a single hamlet shows the game’s beginnings may have been in reproductive rituals.

It was a rough game. Sole (French version) was described as “a true war for the control of the ball” by Michel Bouet in Signification du sport (1968) as participants “fought like dogs fighting over a bone.” According to Eric Dunning and Kenneth Sheard in Barbarians, Gentlemen, and Players (1979), “a joyful form…of exhilaration akin to that awakened in war” in the British version.

Many historical records about medieval folk football are based on legal documents. For more than two centuries, the game was outlawed by the kings and queens of England in a futile attempt to stop their wayward citizens from having a little fun. Records of criminal trials continue to relate to the loss of life and destruction of property during an annual football game notwithstanding the restrictions. However, Richard Carew’s depiction of “hurling to goalies” from his Cornwall Survey is the most comprehensive (1602).

Cacio, a sport popular among stylish young aristocracy in Renaissance Italy, became more structured and less aggressive leisure played on restricted rectangular grounds put out in urban squares like as Florence’s Piazza di Santa Croce, where the game was first played in the 15th century. According to Giovanni Bardi, “gentlemen, from eighteen years of age to forty-five, attractive and vigorous, with gallant bearing and of good record” are the ideal players for the Florentine game of Calcio.

Wearing “fine raiment” was a requirement. In a modern print, pikemen in full regalia patrol the field and maintain a respectful demeanor. (The Federazione Italiana del Football changed its name to the Federazione Italiana Gioco del Calcio in 1909, in a moment of nationalistic fervour.)

French and British cities like Boulogne-la-Grasse and Ashbourne remained home to folk football until the early 20th century as an unbroken local institution. At Eton College in 1747, Thomas Gray wrote an “Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College” in which he described the “flying ball” and its effect on the “idle progeny” of the English aristocracy.

Public schools in England in the late 18th and early 19th century had football games that were nearly as brutal as those played in the medieval era.  Creating new games using the rules of many schools was the only sensible option because no one would play by the rules of another’s school.
