One of the most popular hip-hop artists in the United States, he goes by the moniker Jidenna Theodore Mobisson. Born in the United States, he is an American citizen. A Nigerian father and an American mother gave birth to him in the United States, but the first six years of his life were spent in Nigeria, where his father was a professor. They eventually returned to the United States after being kidnapped in Nigeria on a bus and forced to ride with the captors under threat of violence. Jidenna, who had been interested in music since he was a child, decided to become a rapper in the 7th grade, but he continued to attend school.

When he was 18, he applied to Stanford University with the goal of majoring in sound engineering and was accepted. By the time he was 23, he had earned a bachelor’s degree in ceremonial arts after deciding to change his major. While in New York City, he had the goal of entering the music industry, but he was forced to accept a teaching position owing to financial constraints.

His debut single, “Classic Man,” was released when he was 29 years old. It wasn’t until two years later that he put out his first album called “The Chief.” He is also very concerned about social issues, as evidenced by his involvement in the “Black Lives Matter” movement. Occasionally, he returns to Nigeria, the country of his father’s birth, to assist in the development of the economy and the preservation of cultural traditions.

As the first professor at the Anambra State University of Technology, Oliver Udemmadu Ogbonna Mobisson was an Igbo scientist from Nigeria. The Enugu State University of Science and Technology was later called. She is an accountant by profession, Tama Mobisson, a white American woman.

His older sister, Nneka Mobisson-Etuk, is the Executive Director of African Operations at the Institute for Health Care Investment. He is the youngest of four children.  The younger Geoff holds an MBA from Harvard, and he has a sibling named Geoff.

Jidenna’s family returned to Nigeria after he had been in the United States for only a few weeks. He was born with a severe lactose intolerance, which resulted in a bloated stomach and a large head when he was a child. When a UNICEF team came to Nigeria and invited Jidenna to pose for a photo, his parents learned about the problem for the first time. His parents resisted at first, claiming that he did not come from one of the poorest in the nation. Parents were taken aback when they learned that their son resembled a UNICEF baby. After learning of his son’s sickness, his father flew to the United States and brought back a substantial amount of soy bean-based products.

At the time, his mother was the only other white lady in the entire neighborhood, and she was his earliest and most vivid recollection. As a result, residents surrounded their car whenever they drove to the market, believing them to be wealthy tourists. In addition, he recalled his father’s encounters with the local chieftains. After placing Michael Jackson or Bob Marley tapes on a boombox, Jidenna would often sneak out of the room and leave the room in utter silence. He’s been a huge fan of Michael Jackson’s music ever since he was a kid.

For his musical career, his experience at Stanford University was priceless. In addition to meeting many people who would become artists, he also met the record producer and rapper Nana Kwabena Tuffuor, who was a student at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) at the time. It was over spring break that we had this meeting. When Jidenna was a Stanford student in 2006, he was an active member of a campus club called “Fear and Fancy.” With the goal of uniting people from all walks of life, not just musicians and artists, the organization was formed. Members of the club often held events they dubbed “masquerade balls,” where they expected guests to be decked out in their best face paint.

Despite this, they allowed individuals to stare at one other for a long amount of time without using cellphones. One of the co-founders of Wondaland Arts Society, Janelle Monae Robinson, attended one of these balls in Oakland. They’ll start working together and become excellent friends in the future. Jidenna went to New York City in 2008 after graduating from college in order to serve as a professor in a hip-hop academic program. The South Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan all had him on their faculties at the same time. Even though he didn’t enjoy the work, he stayed on as a teacher till the beginning of 2014 because he needed money.

Composing music for children necessitated him to learn about many kinds of music and apply rhyme to them so that they may be enjoyed by children. Since then, he’s been living in several cities around the country to advance his own artistic endeavors. When Jidenna’s father went away in 2010, the world was a darker place. Just before he died, he told Jidenna to make sure that the songs he wrote reflected the world around him so that others could relate to them. It was also requested that music never previously heard be composed for him by Jidenna in order to give him an entirely new appearance and sound to work with.

For the first time since he was a child, Jiddena decided to make music his full-time career and secured a contract with Wondaland Records, owned by Janelle Monáe, in 2013. This is where he began collaborating alongside many Wondaland musicians, including Janelle Monáe, Roman GianArthur and St. Beauty and Deep Cotton to name a few. A five-track EP called “Wonderland Presents: The Eephus” was the beginning of his collaborations with Janelle Monáe, Roman GianArthur, St. Beauty and Deep Cotton in 2014. He performed “Classic Man” solo and “Yoga,” which featured Janelle Monáe, as well as other songs.

Roman GianArthu and Kendrick Lamar both appeared in his ‘Classic Man’ music videos released in 2015, both of which were widely distributed. On December 21 of the same year, he released “Long Live the Chief,” “Knickers,” and “Extraordinaire,” his next three lead singles. Until recently, the two most current singles were not available to customers.

He’s been working on “The Chief,” his debut studio album, since 2015. This album’s first single, “Long Live the Chief,” was released as the album’s first single. On Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart, the song peaked at number 10, while it also peaked at number 48 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart. “The Chief,” the album he had been working on for the entire year, saw two extra tracks released in 2016. Roman GianArthur’s “Chief Don’t Run” and “Little Bit More” were both released on June 27 and July 8 of this year, respectively, respectively. On February 3, 2017, the artist released the fourth song off his debut album, ‘The Chief.’

When Nana Kwabena sang “The Let Out,” it was dubbed that. The album’s first song, titled “Bambi,” was released by Jidenna on February 9th of this year. On February 17, 2017, Wondaland Records and Epic Records released the album’s first pressing. On November 10, 2017, Jidenna released an extended play (EP) called Boomerang. Two remixes from his last album, “The Chief,” were featured in addition to the four entirely new songs, “Decibels,” “Boomerang,” “Spy Candy,” and “Out of Body.” “Bambi Too” and “Little Bit More” are the names of these two newborns.

Jidenna’s most well-known song is “Classic Man,” which he released as his first commercially successful hit in January of 2015. At number 22 on the US Billboard Hot 100 list after just 16 weeks of availability, the song sold 399,000 copies and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Rap/Sung Performance category. Also widely recognized is “The Chief,” his debut studio album, which was released in February of 2017. In 2005, his father was promoted to the post of chief in Awe Ademola, and he dedicated the album to him. A total of 13,312 copies were sold in its first week of release on the Billboard 200 list.

For Jidenna, his Nigerian heritage is highly important, which is why he frequently visits the nation. He was buried in the village where his father was born after he died. A recent family trip to Nigeria led him and his sister to establish an annual scholarship in honor of their father at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology. To help repair the relationship between African Americans and police, he has participated in protests supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

While Jidenna was brought up as a Catholic, she keeps a shrine at the recording studio that includes religious literature from a wide range of faiths, including Islam and Hinduism, as well as candles, herbs, and rice. To get help from the music gods, he reads one of the books and launches rice into the air while pleading with the ancestors of music.
