Later, he adopted the stage name Jason Aldean, spelling his middle name differently and dropping the Williams.
His parents divorced when he was three years old, leaving him with a broken family. His mother raised him in Macon after that. During the summer, he used to spend time with his father in Homestead, Florida. He has a sister as well as two stepbrothers.
Jason became interested in country music after watching the Country Music Awards (CMA) on television, which inspired him to pursue a career as a singer. At the age of 15, he joined the house band at Macon nightclub Nashville South.
Jason and his band were helped by his father to perform at ‘Truman State University’ in Kirksville, Missouri after graduating from high school.
Jason began writing songs with band member Justin Weaver. In 1996, he recorded an eight-song CD and attempted to sell it at various shows. In 1998, he performed some of his self-written songs at the Atlanta nightclub ‘The Buckboard.’
Michael Knox, the then-executive of song-publishing company ‘Warner-Chappell,’ discovered him at an Atlanta show and assisted him in obtaining a song-writing contract with the company. On November 1, 1998, he relocated to Nashville.
Jason struggled with his music career for the next few years. Meanwhile, Lawrence Mathis was appointed as his first manager.
As nothing fruitful was coming his way, Jason decided to return to his hometown, but around the same time, he was signed by the independent label ‘Broken Bow Records’ in 2005, which opened a new chapter in his life of a thriving musical career. He went on to have all seven of his albums released by the label.
Jason released his eponymous album on July 26, 2005, which topped the US Billboard Top Independent Albums chart and ranked #6 on the US Billboard Top Country Albums chart. It was produced by Knox, who went on to produce all of Jason’s subsequent albums. His debut single, ‘Hicktown,’ was included on the album.
Career
The album ‘Jason Aldean’ was certified platinum by the RIAA. Kevin Neal has remained his agent since the film’s release. Jason was named ‘Top New Male Vocalist’ at the 2006 ACM Awards.
On May 29, 2007, he released his second studio album, titled ‘Relentless,’ which debuted at the top of the US Billboard Top Country Albums chart and peaked at number one on the US Billboard Independent Albums chart. The album was certified gold by the RIAA on October 4, 2007, and platinum by the RIAA in September 2012.
By this point, he had approached Clarence Spalding’s artist management company, ‘Spalding Entertainment.’
