Marshall Bruce Mathers III was born on October 17, 1972, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Marshall Bruce Mathers, Jr. and Deborah Rae “Debbie” Nelson.Michael, Sarah, and Nate are Eminem’s half-siblings. Marshall shared a home with his mother, Debbie. They moved to a number of cities before settling in Detroit, Michigan.
He grew up in a predominantly black neighbourhood and was frequently bullied by African-American children. As a child, he was drawn to comic books and music, particularly rapping.
He had a difficult childhood and was never close to his mother. However, he was close to her half-brother, Ronnie. Marshall’s education suffered as a result of his constant squabbles with Debbie, and he dropped out of ‘Lincoln High School’ at the age of seventeen. Marshall began rapping with his friend Mike Ruby when he was fourteen years old. The two friends were known as ‘Manix’ and ‘M&M,’ with the latter later becoming ‘Eminem.’
Marshall and his friend DeShaun Dupree Holton, who later became famous as rapper Proof, also competed in rap contests at ‘Osborn High School.’ All of these music competitions were attended by the two rappers at West 7 Mile in Detroit. Eminem practised writing long words and phrases that rhymed with each other in order to excel at the art.
He began rapping with the ‘New Jacks,’ but later moved to ‘Soul Intent,’ the band that released a song featuring Eminem and Proof in 1995.
In 1996, the two friends left ‘Soul Intent’ and formed their own band called ‘D12’ or ‘The Dirty Dozen.’ Famous rappers Kon Artis and Bizarre were among those in this group. The group has released several chart-topping singles, including ‘Fight Music,’ ‘Shit on You,’ and ‘How Come.’
Eminem released his first album, ‘Infinite,’ in 1996. The album was recorded under the banner of ‘FBT Productions,’ and it included songs about the difficulties he faced following the birth of his daughter, at a time when he was financially insecure.

The same year, he and friend Paul Rosenberg founded the record label ‘Shady Records.’
In May of 2000, Eminem released the album ‘The Marshall Mathers LP,’ which sold nearly 2 million copies in its first week. The album included the chart-topping single ‘The Real Slim Shady,’ which topped the charts despite insulting other artists.
The other well-known song, ‘Stan,’ from the album ‘Marshall Mathers LP,’ featuring English singer Dido and her single ‘Thank You,’ saw a slight departure from the artist’s usual rapping style. It is about an obsessed fan of rapper Slim Shady who kills himself and his pregnant girlfriend after being ignored by his idol.
The same year, the well-known rapper appeared in ‘8 Mile,’ a film loosely based on his life, though the artist claims otherwise.
From 2001 to 2004, the well-known rap artist released popular albums such as ‘The Eminem Show’ and ‘Encore.’ Hit singles from the albums included ‘Without Me,’ ‘Superman,’ ‘Mockingbird,’ and ‘Just Lose It.’ During this time, he also worked with Dr. Dre on a number of songs, including the Grammy-winning ‘Forgot About Dre.’
