Dayanand Chandrashekhar Shetty is an Indian film and television actor and model. He was born on December 11, 1969, and is best known for his role as Senior Inspector Daya in India’s longest-running television police procedural, CID. Shetty has also appeared in several other films and television shows. In 2018, he was honored by being admitted into the Gold Awards Hall of Fame.
Due to a leg injury, he transitioned from a sportsman to an actor. Because of his skill as a shot putter and discus thrower, he took home several awards in their respective disciplines. In 1996, he won the discus throw competition in Maharashtra and was crowned champion. He has been in many advertisements and has even earned honors for his work as an actor in the theater. Because of his performance in the Tulu language drama Secret, he was given the prize for Best Actor.
After that, in 1998, he participated in an audition for the part of a CID officer and was ultimately chosen for the job. His role as Senior Inspector Daya in CID helped make him a household name.
