Dana Welles Delany is an American actress who was born on March 13, 1956. Series in 1989 and 1992, came after she appeared in tiny roles early in her career. Her roles in the films Light Sleeper (1992), Tombstone (1993), Exit to Eden (1994), The Margaret Sanger Story (1995), Fly Away Home (1996), True Women (1997), and Wide Awake (1998) earned her more notoriety (1998).
Delany is also a well-known voice actor who has performed in the DC Animated Universe, most notably as Andrea Beaumont in Batman: The Animated Series. Delany starred in numerous short-lived television shows during the 2000s, including Pasadena (2001), Presidio Med (2002–2003), and Kidnapped (2006–2007).

Delany is the daughter of Mary and Jack Delany and was born in New York City. She has a brother, Sean, and a sister, Corey. She was raised as a Roman Catholic and is of Irish and English ancestry. She has mentioned that she has always wanted to be an actress since she was a child.

“It was just a little weird to be Nellie at the time,” she said. In a film class taught by Steve Marx, she starred in a student video directed by classmate Jonathan Meath. She received the academic accolade of nomination to the school chapter of the Cum Laude Society in 1974, which was given to 80 out of 378 graduating seniors that year.
She majored in theatre at Wesleyan University, where she performed in one of the inaugural shows, among others. Before graduating in 1978, Delany worked in summer stock performances throughout his holidays. She later admitted in an interview that she suffered from eating issues at this time in her life.
