Crystal Bowersox Wiki/Bio

Crystal Lynn Bowersox was born on August 4, 1985, in Los Angeles, California. In the ninth season of American Idol, she finished as the runner-up, and she is now a successful singer, composer, and actress. She was the first female finalist in three years, and she was the first finalist overall. In 2010, Bowersox’s debut album, Farmer’s Daughter, was released on Jive Records’ label on December 14, 2010.

Bowersox’s second studio album, All That for This, was released on March 26th, 2013. In Elliston, Ohio Kelly Lynn Bowersox (born in Bowlander) and William Lester Bowersox, Bowersox, and her two brothers Karl were born. Bowersox is the daughter of Kelly Lynn Bowersox (née Bowlander) and William Lester Bowersox. When she was two years old, her parents separated and divorced.

Bowersox was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was six years old. Later, she went on to attend the Toledo School for the Arts in Toledo, Ohio, after graduating from Oak Harbor High School in Oak Harbor, Ohio. She was a member of the choir and a flute player in the school marching band. On the 10th of October 2010 at Uncommon Ground Café in Chicago, Bowersox and Brian Walker married, who met six years ago while they both sang at Open Mic Night.

The ceremony took place at the restaurant where the pair had met six years earlier. They announced that they were terminating their marriage on May 6, 2013, in a statement. On November 26, 2013, when appearing on Good Day Los Angeles to promote her Christmas album, Bowersox came out as bisexual for the first time. Bowersox next performed her song “Coming Out For Christmas,” which is an exploration of the subject matter discussed in the previous section.

The little Bowersox did her first professional job when she was just ten years old. She performed at local bars in Toledo, including the well-known Papa’s Tavern, as well as the Village Idiot in Maumee, Ohio, where she met her husband. She came to Chicago when she was seventeen years old, where she worked as a busker at train stations, notably the Washington and Lake Redline stops.

In addition to the In One Ear concert at the Heartland Cafe, she frequented the Uncommon Ground Clark and Grace and Devon locations, as well as Uncommon Ground Clark and Grace. She also spent a lot of time playing in the Lakeview district of Chicago. In the words of Bowersox, she was living in poverty at the time and had no choice but to beg for insulin at a drugstore in order to maintain control over her diabetes after her health insurance had expired.

During the 2006 Sister Cities initiative “Experience Chicago,” the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs selected Bowersox to represent Chicago folk musicians in Birmingham, Alabama as part of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. In 2007, Bowersox embarked on an independent small cafe tour that took him to cities such as Memphis, Oaxaca City, Ankara, and Istanbul, among other places.

Bowersox gave birth to a boy named Anthony Levi Mason in 2009; her son’s father, according to Bowersox, abandoned her six weeks after his motherhood. Bowersox went to Chicago, Illinois, to audition for the American Idol show. She sang the song “Piece of My Heart.” “She has raw, genuine talent,” guest judge Shania Twain remarked about the contestant.

When Bowersox was hospitalized on March 2, 2010, it was due to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) caused by type 1 diabetes, which necessitated a last-minute change in scheduling to allow her more time to rehabilitate. During an interview with host Ryan Seacrest on the May 19, 2010 results broadcast, Bowersox stated that she was suffering from the sickness. On that particular day, the males competed instead of the women. She performed the following day and was praised by all of the judges.

Next to her impressive performance the following week, Simon Cowell declared, “Right now, you are the one everyone has to beat.” Until Bowersox made it to the finals, no female participant had advanced to that stage since Jordin Sparks won the competition in 2007. She is also the first contestant in the history of American Idol to have one of their original songs performed live on the program, or at the very least on their hometown package, during the show.

During the Top 3 Results broadcast on May 19, Crystal’s original song “Holy Toledo” was played as the background music for her homecoming package – she had returned to Toledo, Ohio and Elliston, Ohio the previous weekend – and transitioned into her live performance of the same song at “Bowersock.”

Bowersox was in a relationship with Tony Kusian throughout her time on Idol, however, the couple ended their relationship just hours before the show’s finale. After her performance of “Up to the Mountain” on the final night of American Idol, Simon Cowell praised her as “amazing,” saying it was “by far the best performance and Night’s song.” She was removed from the race.

On May 26, 2010, Bowersox has crowned the runner-up to Lee DeWyze, who had won the competition. She has stated that she hopes to raise more awareness about type 1 diabetes after her American Idol stint is over. Bowersox is the third Idol Runner-Up (after Clay Aiken and David Archuleta) who has never been in the Bottom 3 or Bottom 2 of the competition.

In a press release issued on May 27, 2010, one day after Bowersox finished in second place on American Idol, it was revealed that she has signed with 19 Entertainment/Jive Records. Since then, her single “Up to the Mountain” has been made available to radio stations and on iTunes. Farmers Daughter, Bowersox’s first studio album, was released on December 14, 2010, in both physical shops and on iTunes. On December 16, 2010, Bowersox appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she performed her single “Farmer’s Daughter.”

Career

In an announcement made on October 7, 2011, RCA Music Group revealed that Jive Records, along with Arista Records and J Records, would be shut down. Because of the closure, all other artists who had previously been signed to these three labels would now have their future material released under the RCA Records label. While many of the musicians who made the transition were successful, Bowersox did not, and as a result, was left without a record label.

She made her television acting debut in an episode of Body of Proof from the second season. Once Upon a Time…, an EP of pre-Idol recordings, was self-released in June 2012 under the title Once Upon a Time… She was a Blues Traveler guest on Suzie Cracks the Whip’s CD on which she performed the song “I Don’t Wanna Go,” leading vocals with Jean Popper.

She performed with them in concert on July 4, 2012, at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, where she sang lead vocals with John Popper on the song “I Don’t Wanna Go.” Bowersox inked a recording contract with Shanachie Records in October of last year. In a press statement issued on January 7, 2013, Bowersox announced that their second studio album, All That for This, would be released on March 26, 2013.

A collaboration between Jakob Dylan and Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, the record was produced by Berlin. On February 5, 2013, Bowersox performed the first song from the album, “Dead Weight,” on the Ryan Seacrest show On Air with Ryan Seacrest. “This song means more to me than even I can fully fathom,” Bowersox said in an interview with Seacrest.

On March 1, 2013, Bowersox embarked on a headline tour in the promotion of their new album. The band Mont Mar opened her shows and served as her backing band for the remainder of her tour dates, which ended March 31, 2013. Bowersox made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 25, 2013, when she played her song “Movin’ On” in order to promote the album.

It was revealed here that Bowersox will star as Patsy Cline in the Broadway production of Always, Patsy Cline, which will premiere in the fall of 2018. On June 11, 2013, it was reported that Bowersox would perform as the headline act at the Lancaster Festival in Lancaster, Ohio, which will take place on June 27, 2013.

Crystal Bowersox brought a casual, folky atmosphere to the ninth season of American Idol, drawing inspiration from her favorite composers, including Melissa Etheridge, Janis Joplin, and Sista Otis. Despite the fact that she auditioned for the show in Chicago, Bowersox was born and raised five hours east of the city in Elliston, Ohio, a small hamlet with fewer than 100 individuals.

She began writing songs when she was eleven years old and, by the time she was in her early twenties, she had formed a group with her brothers. The siblings, who went by the stage name “Oldinuph” (a moniker that made light of their own childhood), performed at various venues in Ottawa County for several years, with Bowersox writing the majority of their original material. She subsequently relocated to Chicago when she was 17 years old in order to further her professional career in a larger metropolis.

Bowersox lived in Chicago for five years before returning to her hometown to give birth to her son, Anthony. But she continued to play in smaller venues, and during a weekend trip to Chicago in 2009, she auditioned for the reality television show, American Idol. She was an outlier among Idol contestants, thanks to her blonde dreadlocks and earthy vocals, but Bowersox quickly established herself as a fan favorite, cruising through each round of “Me and Bobby McGee,” and other rootsy songs, compete with renditions of “You Can’t Alway Get What You Want.”

Following the elimination of Siobhan Magnus in early May, Bowersox was the only female contestant left in the competition, and she ultimately finished as the runner-up to American Idol champion Lee DeWyze, who won the competition. Later that year, she released her debut studio album, Farmer’s Daughter. Farmer’s Daughter received a usual post-Idol marketing push, but the album failed to become a hit in the United States.

The next year, RCA Records went through a reorganization that resulted in Bowersox being without a home. She joined Shanachie Records in 2012, and the label paired her with producer Steve Berlin to create her debut album (best known as a member of Los Lobos). All That for This was the culmination of this process, and it was released in March of 2013. The next year, she released the Promises EP.

Alive, her third studio album, was released in the summer of 2017. Crystal Bowersox, a runner-up on American Idol, and her husband, musician Brian Walker, have decided to call it quits. According to the pair in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, “after two and a half years of marriage, we have decided to break our union.

” We will continue to support one another in our professional and personal lives since the friendship and love that brought us together are still strong. We are hoping that people will be considerate of our privacy as we navigate through this emotionally charged and stressful period for our family.

It was in Chicago in 2010 when the pair tied the wedding in front of 60 friends and family members after a whirlwind relationship and engagement that lasted only a few weeks. Despite the fact that the couple did not have children, Bowersox, 27, has a 4-year-old son, Tony, from a prior marriage.

Bowersox, who finished second to Lee DeWyze on season 9 of American Idol in 2010, has just released her sophomore album, All That For This, which is available on iTunes. This summer, she will be seen on Broadway in the role of famous country singer Patsy Cline in the musical Always Patsy Cline.
