Chris Brown Wiki/Bio
Brown grew up in a rural Virginia town. He found a liking for dancing and singing as a child, and at the age of 15, he was signed to Jive Records. On the strength of the chart-topping hit “Run It!” and the quality Brown demonstrated in both voice and dancing, he was quickly compared to Usher and Michael Jackson. Brown was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2006, including best new artist, and he expanded his acting career in 2007 with appearances in the dance drama Stomp the Yard, the hit TV melodrama The O.C., and the holiday comedy-drama This Christmas. Brown’s second album, Exclusive, was released in late 2007, and it was praised for demonstrating Brown’s maturation while still appealing to his target teen demographic. Exclusive featured collaborations with famous artists like Lil Wayne and Kanye West, and its track “Kiss Kiss,” starring singer-rapper T-Pain, topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Brown’s professional image was tainted in 2009 after he was sentenced to 180 days of community service and five years of supervised probation for criminally assaulting fellow R&B star Rihanna, who was then his girlfriend. The widely publicised incident aroused outrage and was widely reported for months. Graffiti, Brown’s third album, was released in December of that year. The album received mixed reviews due to its musical portrayal of his tumultuous relationship with Rihanna and its aftermath, and it did not sell as well as his previous two efforts. Brown bounced back two years later with the album F.A.M.E., which went to number one on the Billboard 200 chart and earned him a Grammy Award for best R&B album.
Brown’s chart-topping single Fortune was released in 2012. He and Rihanna shared remixes of each other’s songs on the social networking site Twitter the same year, and he was included on one of her albums, Unapologetic. The collaborations generated rumours of a romantic reunion; in early 2013, Rihanna revealed that the two had resumed dating, but the relationship ended later that year. Brown was charged with attacking a guy outside a hotel in October 2013, a violation of his 2009 probation that landed him in jail for more than 100 days in 2014.
The incident, for which he ultimately pleaded guilty, came after a series of brawls, some of which involving other musicians. Brown continued to record despite his legal difficulties. Following that, he released X (2014), which featured Lil Wayne and R. Kelly as guests, Royalty (2015), which was named after his daughter, and the double albums Heartbreak on a Full Moon (2017) and Indigo (2018). (2019). Slime & B (2020) is a collaborative mixtape featuring rapper Young Thug.
Chris Brown was born in the town of Tappahannock in the state of Virginia. He got into his parents’ favourite music, like a lot of youngsters born in the mid- to late-’80s, but eventually fell under the spell of hip-hop. He discovered his singing aptitude at the same time his voice altered, and shifted his concentration away from MC’ing. Tina Davis, a Def Jam A&R executive who became the singer’s manager immediately after leaving her post in the Sony-BMG merger, discovered him after relocating to New York.
The Jive label won the bidding war for Brown and lined up several production and songwriting heavy hitters, including Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Sean Garrett, and Scott Storch, for his self-titled debut album, in part due to its track record with younger artists who had established longevity (like Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake). Chris Brown’s debut album, released in 2005, contained the number one single “Run It!” as well as two more Top Ten hits, “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” and “Say Goodbye.”
Brown was then nominated for a Grammy in the Best New Artist category. Exclusive, which was released in 2007 and was a change from his debut’s wholesome image, was even more popular, with the number one single “Kiss Kiss” and two additional Top Five successes. “No Air,” a duet with Jordin Sparks that featured on Sparks’ self-titled album, was another Top Five smash. Brown also co-wrote Rihanna’s number-one song “Disturbia.”
