Aubrey Plaza Wiki/Bio

Aubrey Christina Plaza is an actress, comedian, and producer from the United States. She began her career at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, where she performed improv and sketch comedy Plaza made her feature film debut in the film Safety Not Guaranteed (2012). She has also been in the films Mystery Team (2009), Funny People (2009), Scott Pilgrim.

Plaza is the son of Bernadette Plaza, an attorney, and David Plaza, a financial advisor, and was born in Wilmington, Delaware.  Renee and Natalie are her younger sisters. Plaza was named after Bread’s song “Aubrey.” Her mother is Irish and her father is Puerto Rican. She has claimed to be of Tano descent. “I was like the only varied student in my high school, and I’m ha,” Plaza said. Plaza has indicated that she grew up in a “very Catholic household.


In 2002, she graduated from Ursuline Academy, a Catholic all-girls institution. She was president of the student council in high school and took part in Wilmington Drama League plays.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in film from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2006. Plaza has worked as an NBC page and has completed numerous internships. Since 2004, Plaza has been a member of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, where he has performed improv and sketch comedy.  She’s also a stand-up comedian who’s performed at the Laugh Factory and The Improv. Plaza featured as Robin Gibney in ESPN’s Mayne Street and in the online series The Jeannie Tate Show. She made her Funny or Die debut in the inaugural episode of “Terrible Decisions with Ben Schwartz.

Career

Daisy, Seth Rogen’s love interest in Judd Apatow’s 2009 film Funny People, was played by her. She was in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Derrick Comedy’s Mystery Team, both of which premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. She starred opposite Jason Bateman and Will Arnett in a College Humor short.

She was praised throughout the event for her portrayal as the deadpan employee, and she was even referred to as one of the show’s stars. Plaza appeared at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12, 2010 for “A Night of 140 Tweets: A Celebrity Tweetathon for Haiti,” which was produced by Rob Huebel, Paul Scheer, Ben Stiller, and Mike Rosenstein. She appeared as a gnome dubbed “Hawaiian Coffee” on HarmonQuest in 2016 and portrayed Aaron Burr in the Drunk History episode “Hamilton.”


She was known for her parts in films such as Mystery Team, Funny People, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Monsters University, Life After Beth, Dirty Grandpa, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, The Little Hours, and Ingird Goes West, among others. Aubrey Plaza was born in the United States to David and Bernadette Plaza. Renee and Natalie are her two younger sisters. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Ursuline Academy and a master’s degree from New York University.

She had an appearance on Portlandia in 2011. Plaza served as a guest judge on The Next Food Network Star in 2011 during a roast portion. She appeared in the music video for Father John Misty’s song “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings” from the album Fear Fun in 2012, and in Cassorla’s “Bona Fide” video in 2014, when she also made her saxophone debut. She also had a leading role in the CBS film The To Do List in 2013. Plaza attempted to take Will Ferrel’s MTV Movie award for “Comedic Genius” with the film’s name written over her chest and a drink in an apparent unexpected attempt to promote the film. Along with Zac Efron, Anna Kendrick, and Adam DeVine, she starred in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. On July 8, 2016, the film was released. Her portrayal of the rebellious Tatiana received significant acclaim.

 

Plaza had her first starring role in a major film in 2012, in the comedy The Big Sick, alongside Mark Duplass. Plaza portrayed Darius, a cynical intern who responds to a strange classified ad “seeking a companion for a time travelling adventure.” Gary Thompson of The Philadelphia Inquirer questioned whether this role was outside of her usual “pretty slacker” range, but considered her performance “compelling.
