The rise of new talent in the United States has recently stormed the American music industry. More than a decade ago, this trend began with Justin Timberlake’s popularity and has not ceased until now. New names like Ed Sheeran, Zarry, Shawn Mendes and others have been hogging the spotlight in recent years. Another young man who has recently become a household name is Andy Biersack. He is a famous young American singer/pianist, who first became the band’s leading singer, ‘Black Veil Brides,’ on the music scene. He founded the band and was his last survivor. As part of the claim to fame Biersack soon took the name of Andy Black and forwarded a genre of music that was along the lines of previous bands like ‘Kiss’ and ‘Motley Crue.’ Throughout the next few years, Andy Biersack gained strength and fame in the American arena.
Andy Biersack was born into a conservative Catholic family in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was educated at a primary Catholic school, part of his traditional American education. From a very young age Biersack took great interest in music after bands such as ‘The Damned’ and ‘The Misfits.’
Because of his different taste in music, compared to the norm of the times, he was often bullied by his school’s elderly kids, but he nevertheless kept his interest in music, and actually depicted the example of the bullying in one of his popular music videos.
Biersack continued his further training in music in his home town of Cincinnati at the ‘The School of Creative and Performing Arts.’ He continued saying his schooling would shape his future and he decided to move to California to further advance his musical career. This move proved to be his stardom pad.
As a teenager Biersack showed his affinity to form his own band when he began a band called ‘Biersack’ with some of his friends, suitably named after him. This group would later become the publicly known rock band ‘Black Veil Brides.’ It was this group. In early 2009, the band signed up with the biggest record labels and this dropped them into their first video “Knives and Pens.” This video was intended to raise awareness of Biersack’s bullying during his school years.
The success of this video ensured the release of the top album ‘We Stich These Wounds.’ The success of the album was fantastic as it succeeded in breaking the thresholds of sales of over 13000 copies. The next three years were stellar for the band and two more albums were released in 2011 and 2013.

The band’s fourth album was also released in 2014. Many in the industry got up and noticed the band’s success. This was also the starting point of the solo career of Biersack when he launched his individual brand under the name ‘Andy Black.’ Biersack followed, through his personal career, a different kind of music along the lines of synthetic and Gothic styles that was different from what he played with his band – The Black Veil Brides. The band began its first US tour, “On Leather Wings.” Their debut album We Stitch These Wounds was published on July 20th and sold in its first week over 13,000 copies, ranking at No.36 in the top 200 chart on the Billboard and No. 1 in the Independent Chart. On May 2014, Biersack announced to the Kerrang! magazine that he had worked with new music under the moniker ‘Andy Black’ outside of Black Veil Brides. He explained that his solo project would have a radically different sound than the band and thought that he wouldn’t create the sound inside the band. Andy was inspired by his love for the synth and goth music of the 1980s. He will work with John Feldmann, a former producer of Black Veil Brides. Despite this project, he reassured his fans that this isn’t his main focus, but rather a hobby or a side-project.
