Anaheim Ducks wikia National Hockey League (NHL) franchise headquartered in Anaheim, California that competes in the Western Conference (NHL). In their history, the Ducks have only won one Stanley Cup (2007).

The franchise was originally named the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim after the then-recent Disney film about a children’s ice hockey team, The Mighty Ducks, and was founded in 1993 by the Disney Company (1992). Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya carried the Mighty Ducks to their first postseason berth in 1996–97 after three straight losing campaigns.

After that, the Ducks slipped back into mediocrity, finishing last in the Western Conference on three separate occasions between 1997–98 and 2001–02. Jean-Sébastien Giguère’s stellar play in goal catapulted the Mighty Ducks, who had been placed seventh in the Western Conference, to the Stanley Cup finals in 2002–03. Despite the fact that the Ducks finally fell to the Devils in seven games, Giguère was named the league’s most valuable player and the winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy.

The Anaheim Ducks were the team’s new name in 2006 after it was purchased from Disney the year before. The Ducks went on to win their first division title under Selanne in 2006–07, with players like Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf on the rise. As a result of their playoff performance, the Ducks won the Stanley Cup by a score of 5 games to 0.

After the championship season, the Ducks had four more winning seasons, but they never got past the second round of the playoffs. With their second straight division win, the Ducks bounced back after a disappointing 2011-12 year but were swept in the first round of the postseason.

With 54 victories in 2013-14, the Ducks won their first Pacific Division title and finished first in the Western Conference. In the conference semifinals, the squad was beaten by the Los Angeles Kings, a rival.

When the Anaheim Ducks finished first in the Western Conference in 2014-15, they progressed to the conference finals, where they were defeated by the Chicago Blackhawks over a seven-game span. It was Anaheim’s fourth straight division title season in 2015–16, but the team was eliminated in seven games on home ice in the first round of the postseason.

Despite winning another division title in 2016–17, the Ducks were forced to play the seventh game on home ice in the second round of the playoffs against the Edmonton Oilers. The Ducks prevailed, although they were ultimately defeated in the conference finals by the Edmonton Oilers. In 2017–18, the Ducks returned to the postseason, however they were swept in the first round this time around.

Anaheim is a city in the U.S. state of California in Orange County. In the Santa Ana River Valley, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) southeast of Los Angeles, you’ll find this town.

At 1857, German immigrants bought land in Rancho San Juan Cajón de Santa Ana and established Anaheim as a cooperative agricultural community. Because of its Germanic name, it translates to “House by the (Santa) Ana River” Citrus trees took the place of vineyards, which were destroyed by disease and lost much of their value.

Chipotle peppers and walnuts were among the other agricultural products produced. The city grew rapidly as railroads connected the growers to eastern markets. Citrus groves in the area virtually disappeared after 1950 as a result of the urban-industrial growth in Los Angeles–Orange County.

Anaheim’s economic growth was sparked in part by the construction of the Disneyland amusement park in 1955, which quickly became one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. Disney’s California Adventure amusement park followed in 2001. Anaheim’s Convention Center is also a valuable resource for the local economy. As early as the 1960s, large aerospace facilities were being built in the city.

Both the Angels of Major League Baseball and the Ducks of the NHL call Anaheim, California, home. Anaheim Museum and Hobby City Toy and Doll Museum are two noteworthy cultural landmarks in the region. As of 1924, Anaheim has hosted a Halloween Parade, which used to be known as the “Greatest Night Pageant West of Mardi Gras.”

However, since the 1960s, it has lost some of its appeals. An outdoor musical amphitheater at Pearson Park makes it a popular hangout for locals. Together with Santa Ana and Irvine, Anaheim is part of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. Established in 1876; population (2010) 336 265; Santa Ana, Anaheim, and Irvine combined; projected population (2020) 346 824; and the Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Anaheim combined metropolitan areas.

The Stanley Cup is awarded annually to the National Hockey League’s victorious team in the world’s professional ice hockey championship play-off.  Frederick Arthur, Lord Stanley of Preston, Canada’s governor-general, donated the cup, which bears his name.

In the beginning, it was supposed to go to the best Canadian amateur athletic team, which was selected by a play-off, with the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association emerging as the first victor. While amateurs used to compete for the cup in its early years, professional teams increasingly supplanted them. In 1926, the cup was given to the National Hockey League as a gift. Here’s a rundown of Stanley Cup champions:
