Alexander Skarsgard Wiki/Bio
Alexander Skarsgrd is a Swedish actor who was born in the southern suburbs of Stockholm to My Guenther, a doctor, and Stellan Skarsgrd, a well-known actor. Alexander’s father has been one of the most well-known Swedish actors for a long time, having appeared in over 120 films.
Alexander is not the only member of the family to carry on the Skarsgrd acting tradition. He has four younger brothers and a sister, two of whom, Gustaf (born in 1980) and Bill Skarsgrd (born in 1990), have also chosen dramatic art as a career.
Alexander Skarsgrd made his acting debut when he was eight years old. In the Swedish drama «Ake and His World», a young actor played the role of Kalle Nubb, a little kid. The boy appeared in the film «Idag röd» three years later. In 1989, he starred in the family film «The Dog That Smiled» as the main character.
The latter piece made him popular among the adolescent audience, but Alexander found the continual attention of outsiders annoying: «The glory was horrible for me. Skarsgrd entered the Royal Marines at the age of 19 and served in a coastal artillery unit that dealt with anti-terrorism in the Stockholm archipelago for the next year. Alexander left his native Sweden in 1996 to “discover himself” in England. He enrolled at Leeds Beckett University to study English. Skarsgrd moved to New York City a year later, where the future celebrity began to realise his goal by enrolling in a drama school at Marymount Manhattan College. «In England, I wasted my time by watching football, getting drunk, and getting into mischief all the time – the actor subsequently revealed – but then the issue arose: what do I want to do with my life? I went to a drama school in New York City.
Career
Alexander returned to Stockholm after completing the training, which lasted six months. He travelled to Sweden in search of an old love, but it vanished as soon as he arrived. But there is a silver lining: Skarsgrd, bored of constantly relocating, has decided to stay in the Viking homeland. He went on to act in a number of Swedish television programmes over the next few years.
The melodrama “Happy End,” in which Alexander performed the lead male part, was released in 1999. In the year 2000, he appeared in four Swedish independent films: «D-dag», the thriller «The Diver», the melodrama «Wings of Glass», and the television serial «Judith». All of these efforts, however, were low-budget and failed to reach audiences outside of Scandinavia.
