AJ Lee Wiki/Bio

AJ Lee is a former professional wrestler from the United States who is most known for her time with the WWE, which she started in 2009. AJ has since departed from the professional wrestling world, but she continues to be well-known for her natural wrestling abilities and capabilities. It is interesting to note that her brother Robert was the one who instilled in her a passion for wrestling.

Within a short period of time, her love had changed into a passion that was so deep and intense that she decided to pursue a professional wrestling career. The young girl made the decision to pursue a wrestling career when she was 12 years old, and finally enrolled in a wrestling school for basic training and teaching.

Her ring moniker was Miss April until she signed with WWE in 2009 and spent two years in its developing system, Florida Championship Wrestling, before being promoted to the company’s main roster. Over the course of her illustrious career, she held the Divas Championship title for a total of 406 days, setting a new record.

Although wrestling propelled her to public attention, AJ was as well-known for her romance storylines with wrestlers who were involved in a rivalry for the WWE World Championships. Her professional wrestling career came to a close when she announced her retirement from in-ring action in 2015, thereby ending her career.

April Jeanette (AJ) Mendez was given the name AJ Lee when she was born on March 19, 1987, in Union City, New Jersey. Mendez is from a Puerto Rican family and has two elder siblings, Erica and Robert. When AJ was little, her brother’s love in professional wrestling impacted her decision to pursue a professional wrestling career. She made the choice to pursue a career in professional wrestling when she was just 12 years old.

Her high school diploma from Memorial was awarded to her in 2005. Later on, she enrolled in New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts to study film and television production as well as writing, but she left out after just six months of studies there. She then began working part-time jobs to help support her family financially and save money in order to attend wrestling school full-time.

When AJ Lee started a romance storyline with Daniel Bryan, the current World Heavyweight Championship champion, it was in November 2011. The romance struck a snag when Bryan blamed AJ for his loss of the WWE Championship against Sheamus after she distracted him with a ‘good luck kiss.’ It was a turning point in their relationship.

After being devastated by the divorce, AJ shifted her attention to Bryan’s competitor and WWE Champion CM Punk, and eventually to another WWE title challenger, Kane, as a distraction. AJ accepted Bryan’s proposal of marriage as he was reconciling with her.

It was during the exchanging of vows at Raw 1000 when AJ decided to leave Bryan at the altar and accept the position of Raw General Manager. Following this, she became embroiled in romance storylines with both John Cena and Dolph Ziggler, both of which came to a screeching halt very quickly.

In 2014, AJ tied the knot with CM Punk after a long string of on-and-off romances with the rapper. AJ is a passionate supporter of animal welfare. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) has appointed her as an ambassador for the organisation since 2015. (ASPCA).

Career

In 2007, AJ Mendez decided to pursue a career in wrestling. By March, she started working with Jay Lethal as a trainer. Women’s wrestling began in earnest the next year, in September, when Mendez debuted under the ring name Miss April on the New Jersey independent circuit.

In 2008, Miss April became a part of the Women Superstars Uncensored programme, which is situated in New Jersey (WSU). She was defeated by Jana in her maiden match. She joined a tag team with Brooke Carter after failing to make it to the first WSU Tag Team Champions tournament. In 2009, they won the tag championships by beating the Beatdown Betties, who had previously held them.

Miss April and Jay Lethal were crowned King and Queen of the Tournament in the 2009 WSU/NWS King and Queen Ring of the Tournament. She graduated from WSU in May 2009 and signed a deal with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

She made her professional wrestling debut in a televised bout for Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), where she competed under the ring name April Lee. It was not long after that she changed her ring name to AJ Lee, which remained with her for the rest of her life.

When AJ overcame Serena Mancini to capture the Queen of FCW title in February 2010, it was a historic moment. However, she was unable to hold onto the championship for long, and it was eventually lost to Rosa Mendes in November. Her comeback was complete in December, when she defeated Naomi to win the FCW Divas Championship.

With the victory, she became the first female wrestler in FCW history to capture both championships. She retained the championship until April 2011, when she was ultimately defeated by Aksana. On 2010, AJ was one of six female wrestlers that competed in the third season of NXT, which included Primo as her WWE professional. She made it through the preliminary rounds, however she was eliminated from the competition in November.

In 2012, AJ Lee accepted the post of Raw General Manager, which had been offered to him by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. But her tenure as Raw General Manager was marred by difficulties, as Vickie Guerrero and Paul Heyman felt AJ unsuited for the post. Finally, on October 22, AJ resigned from her position as General Manager of the company.

The next year, she defeated Kaitlyn in a battle royal to become the number one contender for the Divas Championship. Afterwards, she beat Kaitlyn to win her first ever Divas Championship. The next day, she took part in the world’s first ever in-ring Divas Championship contract signing for a rematch against Sasha Banks at Money in the Bank, which she won.

Despite the fact that she successfully defended her championship, she was defeated by Ziggler and Kaitlyn in the mixed tag team match at SummerSlam. Maryse had the previous record of the longest-reigning Divas Champion until AJ broke it in January 2014, becoming the first woman to do so. She has successfully defended all of her titles, including the 14-woman match at WrestleMania XXXX in April, despite several efforts to have them taken away from her.

At the WWE’s biggest event, it was the first time the Divas Championship had been battled for in the company’s history. AJ’s reign, on the other hand, came to an end on a terrible note as she was defeated in an impromptu championship battle after challenging the debuting Paige. Her 295-day reign, which set a world record, came to an end with this match.

Tamina was defeated by AJ Lee when he returned to the ring in June 2014. She even challenged Paige to an unexpected rematch, which she won, allowing her to claim her second Divas Championship championship. She successfully defended her championship at Battleground, but she was ultimately defeated by Paige at SummerSlam in August of that same year. The championship was reclaimed by AJ Styles in a series of bouts that began in August 2014, but she lost it almost immediately to Nikki Bella in an elimination match.

On March 29, 2015, AJ Lee formed a partnership with Paige in order to compete against the Bella Twins at WrestleMania 31 in New Orleans. When the pair defeated Nikki and Brie Bella, they were declared the winners of the competition. Five days later, on April 3, 2015, WWE revealed that AJ had decided to retire from in-ring action. This was her last encounter before her retirement.

In AJ’s professional career, her record-breaking tenure as the Divas Championship title holder for 295 days was the crowning achievement. She held the title for a total of 406 days, defeating a number of high-profile wrestlers in the championship matches.

As part of the WWE’s annual Superstar Challenge video game competition, which took place at WrestleMania XXVIII Axxess in 2012, Mendez became the first female winner. She battled against sixteen other wrestlers in WWE ’12, which was broadcast live on the WWE Network. This is acknowledged by Guinness World Records as part of their Gamer’s Edition, which is available for purchase. Fighting with My Family, a film released in 2019, features Thea Trinidad in the role of her WWE persona.

Crazy Is My Superpower: How I Triumphed by Breaking Bones, Breaking Hearts, and Breaking the Rules is a memoir written by Mendez that was released on April 4, 2017 by Crown Archetype Publishing. Her background as well as her professional wrestling career are detailed in the book.

It debuted at No. 10 on The New York Times Best Sellers List for hardcover non-fiction in its first week of publication in the United States. She regarded writing as “very much the next chapter” of her life when she was released, and she had already began work on a second book when she was released. With actress Aimee Garcia, Mendez developed the comic book series GLOW vs.

The Babyface, which is based on the television series GLOW. The first of four issues was released by IDW Publishing in November 2019; the second of four issues will be published in May 2020. IDW will publish the first issue of At the Spine of the World, written by Mendez and Garcia, in October 2020. The comic book is based on the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.
