Adam Driver was born on 19 November 1983, Joe Douglas Driver and Nancy Wright (born in Needham) in San Diego, California. When Adam was a child, his mother worked as a paralegal and divorced Adam’s father. She then married Rodney G. Wright, a Baptist church minister.
When Adam was 7 years old the family left California and his mother took Adam and his sister to their country of Indiana. He was enrolled there at “Mishawaka High School” and played during his school days, laying the foundation of his future acting career. He began to try to become a serious actor when he graduated from high school. He soon went to the ‘Juilliard School,’ New York’s best acting school. His application was, however, rejected.
In the two years that followed, Adam Driver enjoyed his military stint. An unfortunate mountain bike accident nevertheless ended his days in the military. He was discharged honorably, then joined ‘Indianapolis University’ for a year. Bored of the university, he decided to give another shot of his old love and acting and again applied to the Juilliard School. This time his application was accepted. When he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree he began to perform in New York and was part of several productions on Broadway and Off-Broadway. However, he wasn’t paid enough to achieve ends. That made him work part-time in New York to make enough money to survive. He once worked as a busboy and waiter during a TV and movie audition. He also made short films and pilots for TV shows around that time.
In 2010, Adam Driver finally played a major role in ‘The Wonderful Maladies’ pilot series. The series was not collected by any network. Then Adam worked in other TV shows like ‘Law & Order’ and ‘The Unusuals.’ He made his film debut in 2011 with the ‘J. Edgar’ directed by Clint Eastwood and in which he played ‘Walter Lyle.’ That was a small part.
After the 9/11 attacks, he joined the ‘Marine Corps of the United States.’ He was discharged honorably later after an accident. He then studied acting at Juilliard School and soon began to perform in New York’s “Broadway” and “Off-Broadway” productions. He sometimes worked for himself as a busboy and waiter. With his appearance in the pilot series 2010 ‘The Wonderful Maladys,’ he made his screen debut. He made his film debut the next year with ‘J. Edgar’ by Clint Eastwood. Following initial praise for his performances, he finally played an important role in the ‘Girls’ comedy-drama series for 2012, which was a major breakthrough in his career. The renowned director Jim Jarmusch offered him the leading role in his film Paterson, and the film proved to be a favorite for movie festivals and won Adam huge honors.
The role of the protagonist’s boyfriend in his 2012 TV comedy-drama series ‘Girls’ was the mainstream name. He was nominated for three ‘Primetime Emmy Awards for ‘Superb Supporting Actor in Comedy Series.’
2012 was a major year for Adam’s acting career. After a major success with ‘Girls,’ he took part in two successful films, namely ‘Lincoln’ as director Steven Spielberg, and the independent film ‘Frances Ha.’ His roles were appreciated in both films. Soon a lot of filmmakers and TV moguls started to get close to Adam.
Adam won the Volpi Cup for the “Best Actor” with his most critically acclaimed movie to date, the Italian film ‘Hungry Hearts.’ The film also participated in the Golden Lion Award at the Venice International Film Festival, one of the world’s most prestigious film awards.
Adam Driver won further success in 2014 with his roles ‘While We’re Young’ and ‘This is where I leave you.’ In the latter, opposite Naomi Watts, he played the role of an aspiring filmmaker.
The official announcement in April 2014 confirmed that Adam would play ‘Kylo Ren,’ an emotionally unstable villain,’ in the new ‘Star Wars movie ‘The Force Awakens,’ which was called the most anticipated film of the year. The film finally came out in December 2015. The film was well-received by critics and was appreciated for its performance.
