Ben Folds is a prominent rock band Ben Folds Five that made singles like “Brick” and “Battle of Who Could Care Less.” Seven years before the group broke up and walked separately, he was the leading vocalist and pianist of the band. The fondness for humour of the band has been reflected in its name itself: it was a group of three, not five. When he was a child, Ben was fan of Elton John and Billy Joel, and while in high school he played the piano, bass and drums for various bands. He founded the Majosha band in partnership with a friend and performed in pubs and gatherings. Soon the band broke up, so he established another band. But such short breaks did not deter the young man and he finally entertained Scott Simon, a music publishing company, and opened for Marc Silvey and played bass for his band.. He spent months working as a musician before meeting with artists desiring to join the Ben Folds Five band with Robert Sledge and Darren Jessee. The band immediately became noted for its strange humour, sorrow and obscenity. Ben also continued his solo career alongside his band work.
The father of Ben Fold was a carpenter, and his mother a painter. He had an interest in early music and liked to listen to the Elton John and Billy Joel tunes.He attended the high school of R. J. Reynolds and performed piano, bass and drums for several bands.He formed Majosha band along with a friend and won the competition at the Duke University Battle of the Bands.
