Azealia Banks was born in New York City on 31 May 1991. Her father was only two years old when she died of pancreatic cancer. She was raised by her mother with her two sisters. As Banks subsequently said, her mother was physically and verbally abused and would slap Banks and her sisters with baseball bats and knock their heads against the wall. She was just 14 years old when she moved out of her mother’s house and started living with her older sister.
At a very young age, she had an interest in music and acting. She never finished high school and opted to be an artist.
